Amy was sitting on the couch, once again watching TV. That seemed to be the only thing she did anymore, besides thinking of the guy in her dreams. The other four had gone out for the night but she wasn’t up to it, thus her sitting home by herself. An encore presentation of TRL was almost ending; they were at the #2 video. *What’s the sense in watching? BSB retired a few days ago. Oh well, I’ll watch anyway. *
“That was your #2 video and now for the news” Carson replied as the camera then turned to John Norris as he began with the news.
“We all know that NSYNC has broke Backstreet’s record, but is it stopping BSB? Hell no, they’ll be releasing their next single, “The One.” Nick Carter recently told TRL that there would be a western theme to the video, so I’m sure Backstreet fans are ecstatic over that. That’s the news for now, Carson, now back to you”
“Thanks, John. Let’s go to commercials and then your #1 video of the day when we return” He said as it went into a commercial break.
“Now that I know for the millionth time that’s the next single, I think I’m finally satisfied” Amy clarified sarcastically to herself. She got up off the couch and walked into the kitchen. She grabbed a chocolate chip granola bar and went back to her current spot on the sofa. Then suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
“Buenos Diaz. No es speak English” She replied from the couch, not wanting to answer the door.
“Hello, I…uh…must have the wrong place” Came an answer, then there was silence.
“Gets them every time” She said then concentrated back on the TV, just in time for the #1 video.
“What a surprise. It’s NSYNC with ‘Bye Bye Bye’ at number one. Enjoy” Carson answered, as it tuned into the video. Again, there was a knock on the door.
“Now I know that was the right place” Bri mumbled to himself, knocking on the door once more, “Nah, it probably wasn’t” He answered and walked back into the apartment.
Amy opened the door a second later, finding no one. “That was strange. Oh well” She replied and closed the door again. She was halfway through watching the video, when again; there was a knock on the door.
“Damnit, I’ll kill whoever is on the other side of that door” She answered angrily, then swung the door opened abruptly.
“That’s no way to treat your two best friends, is it?” A girl with hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair answered, who seemed about 5’4”. There was another girl standing next to her with dark brown hair and green eyes, who was about 5’8”.
“Oh My God! Catelyn! Kristen!” She answered, giving them both hugs, “Come on in”
“Place looks the same as usual. Where are Kat and Meg?” Kris asked.
“There out partying with a few guys. I felt like resting up”
“Cool. How is everything since…”Cate trailed off.
“I’ve been doing better than I expected, but I can’t live in the past”
“You got a point there my friend”
“So what are you guys doing here, first off?” Amy asked, changing the subject.
“My boyfriend’s staying here for a while, so I figured I could always see you” Kristen answered.
“Boyfriend? It’s okay, don’t tell best friend Amy anything” She replied sarcastically.
“Well, we just met a month ago. He was on tour and all…”
“You just said tour, meaning someone famous, right?”
“Yepps, you’ll never guess in a million years”
“I probably won’t so…next subject,” Amy said, walking over to the fridge.
“She’s dating Howie from the Backstreet Boys” Cate blurted out.
“Cate, you bitch!” Kristen replied, smacking her in the arm.
“Howie ‘the winking fool’ Dorough?” Amy asked laughing.
“He’s not that bad actually, lives up to his name being very sweet and all”
“Well, you’ll probably be seeing him a lot around here”
“Why is that, Amers? C’mon tell us”
“Because they are currently living right across the hall from us”
“You are so fucking kidding me”
“Nopes, I already met them at the studios where Kat works”
“That’s cool. Why should I care? I have a boyfriend,” Cate reminded herself.
“So how is Brad ‘the bowling cutie’ doing?”
“I don’t know, it’s not like it was when we first started going out”
“That sucks, I guess” Amy replied, as the other four came bursting through the door.
“16 bottles of beer on the wall, 16 bottles of beer, you take one down, you pass it around, 15 bottles of beer on the wall” They sung in unison, tripping and stumbling as they walked into the apartment.
“Cate and Kris, meet the four drunks of the evening”
“It would have been five if you joined” Kat replied.
“Wait, it’s Cate and Kris! What up girlies?” Meg slurred.
“Apparently Meg, we already established that’s who they were”
“Cool. What up, my name is A-J, baby. Capitol A, capitol J, together it spells…”
“AJ!!” The other three answered as they all giggled.
“Amy, we should go…”
“No, you two are staying. I just have to get capitol A capitol J and Nick home” She replied.
“If you say so,” Kris replied.
“Alright, Kris stay here with the alchys over there. Cate, you help me get these two across the hall” Amy replied, grabbing a hold of Nick’s arm as he slouched over.
Cate got a hold of AJ as they trudged out into the hallway. Cate knocked lightly, as they both waited for a response. Kevin answered the door and immediately took hold of AJ. He walked in and mumbled something, than Brian came to the door. He took Nick from Amy, taking a quick glance at her. *She looks sorta familiar. I should forget it, this day has been too weird*
“Hi, I’m Cate and you are Brian, right?”
“Yeah, and this is Nick. Obviously” Brian said nudging Nick, getting a weak reply.
“We’ll see ya later. C’mon Amy” Amy was staring until Cate pulled her back across the hall, into the apartment and shutting the door.
“Here, let me get Nick” Kev replied and took Nick away from Bri.
Brian just stood there, still thinking about that girl from across the hall.
Amy sat there on her bed, wondering if he would show up. She couldn’t get that guy from across the hall out of mind. This was all too frustrating. Slowly, a figure began to appear and Amy knew exactly who it was.
“It’s about time,” She relied, standing up and walking over to him.
“Well, it’s not easy falling asleep with all the noise at my place”
“I take it you have a lot of roommates, right?”
“Too many, but it’s better than being lonely”
“Yeah, so what have you been up to?”
“A lot of things, but I’m just happy to see you” He said, taking her hand.
“That’s just it. We keep seeing each other in this fantasy world, not a reality”
“It shouldn’t matter as long as we keep seeing each other”
“I want more than this though. I want to be able to see you everyday, without going to sleep”
“I feel the same, but I don’t know what to do”
“It has to be something. Maybe we keep missing each other or something. Gosh, I don’t even know why we’re here in the first place,” Amy replied, frustrated.
“We can figure it out than. I’ll start. I just got out of a really great yet horrible relationship. I’ve been so depressed, and suddenly, I met you and I’ve been so happy”
“Geez, that’s horrible. I sort of just got out of relationship myself, but it wasn’t my choice”
“What do you mean?”
“My boyfriend was killed in a car accident about a week ago. It crushed me because we had our whole future planned out. We were going to get married” Amy replied, a few tears falling.
“Sshh, It’s gonna be alright. You’ll get through this”
“I know, it’s just so hard sometimes,” She replied, and then looked up at him. They began to move closer, right about to brush across each other’s lips, when…
Amy sat up abruptly in bed.
“What the hell was that? I can’t take this anymore” She answered, getting out of bed.
She walked out into the living room, where Catelyn was sleeping on the pull out sofa bed. Cate had heard the noise and woke up. She saw Amy, sitting at the edge of the sofa bed.
“Hey Amers, what’s the matter?”
“I don’t know Cate, I really do not know”
“You can talk to me, ya know. I have been your best friend for almost ten years”
“Everything’s just so messed up. Noah died and I was miserable. It’s been pretty much a week since that happened but I met someone else. I think”
“Met someone else? Why haven’t we met him?”
“Here’s the deal; He only appears in my dreams, but I think he’s a reality”
“I think you just have to look harder. You might find him”
“Thanks, girl. I’ve missed you two so much,” Amy answered, then reached over and gave Cate a hug.
“We’ve missed you just as much. What’s friends forever without being the best?” Cate asked, making them both laugh.
“I still wear that necklace to this day” Amy answered, picking up the chain off her neck that had a little pendent saying ‘best’.
“I do too,” Cate said, holding up her necklace that had the ‘friends’ pendent.
“You can’t forget the forever now can ya?” Kristen replied, walking out of the guestroom.
“What are you doing up?”
“As much as I tried, I couldn’t sleep”
“Join the club, girl”
Suddenly, Kat and Meg stumbled out of the bathroom.
“How’s the hangover?” Amy asked smiling. The other two just groaned.
“Where’s the Tylenol? My head is ready to explode” Kat replied.
“What she said,” Meg agreed as the two collapsed on the sofa bed.
“You two look great” Cate answered, sarcastically.
“Don’t even start. I just need some damn Tylenol”
“Here you go” Amy said, handing them each a glass of water and some Tylenol.
“Thank you God,” Meg mumbled, swallowing the two capsules.
“I’m going back to bed. Night everyone,” Kristen replied, and headed back to the guestroom.
“Yeah, I better go too. C’mon Meg,” Kat answered, dragging Meg off the bed.
“I’m coming, slow down” Meg replied as they went to their separate rooms.
“I’ll let you go back to sleep now, Cate”
“Alright, just remember what I said”
“I will. Good Night,” Amy replied and went back to her own room.
