Chapter 1

Amy sat down, taking in the news slowly. A tear slipped down her face as she thought over and over that it couldn’t be true.

“Car accident?” She asked, barely above a whisper.

“I’m sorry. They said he died on the scene” Kat, her best friend, replied. She started to sob as well.

“Noah is not dead. They’re all wrong because he’ll walk through the door any minute”

“Amy…he’s gone. I feel the same way, but he’s not coming back.

“Yes he is! We’re getting married next month and, and we’re gonna have our kids and grow old together…and…and…”She trailed off, sobbing even harder.

“Shhh, it’s okay. Everything will be okay” Kat answered, hugging her

“No it won’t, Kat, no it won’t” She answered, as more tears flowed.

“We’ll get through this together”

Just than, their other best friend Meg walked through the door. Immediately, she rushed over to Kat and Amy, a questionable look on her face.

“Why are you guys so upset?” She asked.

“It’s Noah…he was…in an accident” Amy said the best she could.

“Oh my God, is he alright?” Meg asked. They slowly nodded their heads no.

“He’s dead, Meg. My brother’s dead” Kat answered, crying even harder.

“This is so…unexpected. We’ll make it through, I know we will” She answered, holding the other two as all three continued to cry.

Three days later, the mass and funeral were held. Amy, Kat, and Meg stayed in the front row, crying as they heard the eulogy Kat’s mother gave. They stayed awhile longer after he was buried, the realization finally hitting he was never coming back. The three of them each placed a rose on his grave then left. The next few days were miserable and hard for them. Kat couldn’t go back to work because it reminded her too much of Noah. He had helped her get the job interview and always backed her up. Meg wasn’t taking it as hard, but it made her upset to see Amy and Kat so miserable, so she stayed home and tried to help them through the pain. Amy just kept quiet and would cry for hours on end, until eventually she would fall asleep.

“NSYNC breaks Backstreet Boy’s record, selling 2.4 million copies in a week. Stay tuned for more” John Norris of MTV News announced.

“Just make my life even more miserable” Amy replied, changing the channel.

“How you feeling?” Meg asked.

“Let’s see: my fiance is killed in an accident and NSYNC breaks BSB’s record. How would you feel?”

“I had that one coming, didn’t I?” She asked, trying to make Amy smile. No such luck, “Where’s Kat at then, Grumpy?”

“She’s in her room, doing what else, crying” She replied, continuing to channel surf.

“That’s it. You’re getting up and you’re getting changed. You’ve been wearing that since after the funeral” Meg said, dragging Amy to her feet.

“So, it’s really comfy. Why should I even bother? Noah was my one, true, soulmate. There’s no use to find another guy”

“Yes, there is. There could be a guy out there who’s even better than Noah”

“No one, and I mean no one, can compare to Noah. Got it?” Amy suddenly outbursts, sitting back down on the sofa and wrapping the blanket around her more tightly.

“Fine, I’m not even gonna bother with you” Meg replied than headed for Kat’s room. She opened the door and saw Kat lying on the bed, crying and sniffling.

“What do you want, Meg?”

“C’mon girl, you got to get up. It’s a great day outside” She answered, pulling the shades up, the sun pouring through and blinding Kat.

“Put the shades back down. I’m not getting out of bed”

“Girl, this is New York. You’re missing a great, beautiful New York day”

“I’ve lived here my whole life, and trust me, I’ve seen a good share of beautiful New York days”

“Well, I don’t think you have. Get your lazy ass up”

“Leave Meg”

“That’s it! I have had enough” She replied, pushing Kat right off the bed. Kat immediately stood, ready to kill Meg.

“What the hell was that for?” She asked but stopped when she heard laughter coming from the doorway. She looked over and saw Amy, laughing so hard, she was turning red.

“That…that was…priceless” She answered in between laughs. Meg and Kat suddenly burst out with laughter, joining Amy.

“I’m so happy to see you guys laughing” Meg said, ruining the moment. The other two stopped suddenly, Kat retreating back to the bed and Amy to the couch. “Damn you two!” She said, sighing and not sure of what else to do.

*Meanwhile*

“Why are we recording the album in New York again?” Nick asked for the umpteenth time. They were flying to New York to start some of the album that was do out in September.

“Nick, for the last fucking time, we do not know” AJ replied angrily.

“Okay, geez, sorry I asked”

“Yo Bri! Hello? B-Rok in the house?” AJ asked, waving his hands in front of his face.

“Hmmm? What?” He asked, snapping out of his trance.

“Are you still thinking about her?” Kev asked unbelievingly.

“No, of course not” He lied.

“Sure, Bri, we know you’re lying. Talk to us” Howie said.

“Guys, it hurts too much to talk about. She broke my heart”

“We know. Frankly, we’ve been trying to warn you for months”

“I know and it’s my fault I didn’t listen right?” He asked sadly.

“We’re sorry you found out the way you did, but you could have married her and found out later”

“Yeah, whatever, I’m going to sleep”

“Sweet dreams, man” Nick replied as Bri slowly drifted off to sleep.

I slowly looked around, noticing everything was white, even the clothes I was wearing. Am I dreaming? Guess so. I looked around some more and noticed a girl sitting on a sofa, a blanket wrapped around her, sleeping peacefully. She was absolutely angelic. Her blonde hair shined as it brushed across her face. She than started to move and awoke, looking directly at me. Her eyes were a nice shade of blue-green, a little more bluer than green. She stood up and walked over, but said nothing. We stood there, silenced for the longest time, not dare speaking, afraid of ruining the moment. I decided to take a chance.

“Hi, I’m-..”

“You don’t need to tell me” She said, silencing me.

“Okay, so any reason why we’re here?”

“I was sitting on the couch and I guess I fell asleep”

“Yeah, I was…just taking a nap” I said, covering up. She than began to disappear.

“I better go now” She answered smiling.

“Will I see you again?” I asked, hoping she’d say yes.

“Maybe. Bye” She replied and disappeared completely.

“That was beyond weird”

“Amy? Amy, wake up” Kat said, shaking her awake.

“What? Huh? I’m awake” Amy said, sitting up suddenly.

“Are you okay? You were smiling in your sleep”

“No reason, it was just a weird dream”

“How weird was it?”

“Weird. I was talking to this guy, who I swore, looked like Brian Littrell”

“Got over my brother that quick, huh?”

“No! I could never do that. It was just really strange”

“Maybe it was a sign that you need to move on”

“But so soon? I still care deeply for Noah. And it’s only been a week”

“I realize that, but you need to be happy. By the way you were smiling, this guy might just be the one to help you through this”

“I know, he was unbelievably sweet, at least he seemed that way. Who am I kidding? This guy is probably a figment of my imagination”

“I don’t think so. You said yourself he looked an awful lot like Brian”

“Yeah but who knows. Where’s Meg?” Amy suddenly asked.

“She got sick of us mopes and left” Kat said laughing.

“I really don’t blame her” Amy said, laughing as well.

“At least you had that great dream with the Brian clone”

“If it is Brian, you can always have Nick”

“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” She asked, making them both laugh.

“Not lately, no. So have you decided if you wanna go back to the studio?”

“I don’t know. I mean everything there reminds me of him, it would be hard”

“Okay, tomorrow you go back for the day and see how it goes. You don’t like, you quit. You have no problems, you stay”

“Alright, it’s a deal my friend” Kat replied, shaking hands with Amy.
