Kayla did eventually open all her presents and got everything she asked for. Her favorite present though was her little Barbie Malibu beach house, which Cate had given to her. Amy was still a little pissed at Cate and Brian and Nick, well they were still laughing about it.
“Hello? We’re home!” Kat announced as she and Kristen entered.
“Aunt Kisten! Aunt Kat!” Kayla screamed, running to them.
“How is everyone’s Christmas so far?” Kristen asked.
“Pretty good, except one minor little hitch”
“Geez Amy, breath for crying out loud! It’s a meaningless little prank”
“Cate, I have a two-year-old daughter who doesn’t need to be hearing that for a good fifteen years!”
“Okays, what did we miss?” Kat asked confused. Cate walked over to her and whispered it into her ear, “And I wasn’t here? Darn!”
“You know, I just need to get away from here awhile. I’m going to visit my parents for a few days” Amy announced and went to her room to pack.
“Where do they live?” Bri asked curiously.
“They’re still in Pennsylvania” Cate replied unhappily.
“Sweets, don’t worry about it. She’s just a little upset” Nick said reassuringly.
Amy came out a moment later, with both hers and Kayla’s suitcases.
“Alright, I’m going. I’ll miss you guys. C’mon K”
“I don’t wanna go! I wanna stay!”
“Kayla Elizabeth, we have to go see Grammy and Pop-pop”
“I already saw them, remember?”
“Well, you get to see them again. Lets go”
“You don’t have to take her. I mean, we can watch her”
“Thanks but no thanks, Kat. Now c’mon”
“No!” She shouted and ran over to Brian, hugging him tightly.
“Kayla, you have to go with you Mommy” Brian said soothingly.
“I don’t want to. I want to stay here with you”
“It’ll only be for a few days. I’ll be waiting here when you get back”
“Can’t you come with us?”
“Not this time. I promise one day I will though”
“Okay” She said, while wiping a tear from her eyes.
“I’ll see ya later” Amy said, walking over to the two.
“I’ll be waiting for you, too” Brian replied and gave her a light kiss on the lips.
“Bye” Amy said as she and Kay left for the airport.
“We need a long explanation people!” Kat exclaimed as everyone else just laughed.
Meg was standing in front of the door, continuing to knock.
She had told AJ she had a few errands to run and would be back in a little bit. He bought it, but it only made her feel more guilty.
Now she was just waiting for the person to answer the door, sometime is this millennium anyway.
“I’ll be right there” Came a reply and then the door opened, “Meg, hi”
“Umm hi. About yesterday…”
“I understand you have a boyfriend, but that doesn’t mean my feelings for you won’t subside”
“TJ, just hear me out, okay?”
“Come in first so your not standing in the hallway” He said as they both entered his apartment. It was nice and spacious, “You can go on now”
“You see, I’m actually engaged to be married, but uh…I don’t think he loves me anymore. What happened was, one of his ex-girlfriends showed up again and I think they had true love and I know they still want to be with each other. So I feel that maybe I should confront him”
“Whatever you feel is right Meg, than do it. If you feel he belongs to this other girl then let him go back to her. I’ll be here if you ever need me and I don’t want you to ever forget that”
“I know and you’re very sweet. That’s my other problem”
“I’m a little confused”
“That’s just it. You’re sweet, charming, intelligent, witty, all of that, and I found this out all in a day. I’m afraid because I think you might be that one true person I’ve always wanted to be with. Not to say AJ wasn’t, but I think we grew apart”
“I feel the same for you, but I want to make sure you deal with AJ first. After that, we’ll just see where it takes us”
“What if I can’t wait that long?” She asked bluntly.
TJ didn’t know what else to do. All he could think about was to just go ahead and kiss her. She still had this fella AJ though, so he didn’t want to cause any trouble. What the hell. It’ll only be one kiss. He thought and leaned over, giving her soft, loving kiss. Meg returned it and wrapped her arms around his neck. The kiss intensified and that’s when Meg knew she had to stop. So she did.
“I’m sorry”
“Don’t be. I’m the one who should be sorry” He said, caressing her cheek.
“I’m going to go now. I’ll call you later”
“I’ll be waiting, Meg. Always” He said and she left.
Meg stood there a second, not really sure if what she was doing was the right thing. She definitely needed to talk to AJ.
Nick and Cate had gone back to his place, along with Brian, since he felt out of place without Amy. So now it was only Kat and Kristen occupying the girls apartment.
“I miss Jaime. He was one fine hottie”
“Yeah, Dan was pretty cute”
“All three of them were, but Jaime, damn!” She said as they both laughed.
Suddenly, the doorbell rung and they both looked at each other. They shrugged and got up to answer it. Kat swung the door open and there stood, who else but, Jaime and Dan.
“Hey girls. We figured we stop by and see you”
“That was just too damn sweet of you. Honest” Kat replied.
“So can we come in?” Dan asked, looking deep into Kristen’s eyes.
“Uh…sure. C’mon on in” Kristen replied hesitantly.
“Lets watch a movie” Kat suggested.
She popped a tape into the VCR and sat on the sofa, Jaime sitting right next to her. Kristen and Dan sat on the other end of the couch,(AN: It’s a big couch!) feeling a it uncomfortable but they tried watching the movie anyway.
