Chapter 8-Your Faith In Me

On the beach with Catelyn and Nick

"Well where should I begin?" Catelyn asked Nick.
"How about why you ran out of the club?"
"Yeah I guess I could start there"
"It would be nice"
"Well, I ran out of the club because I was scared. Not because you did anything wrong, cause you didn't"
"That's what I was worried about"
"No, it wasn't you at all. It was all me. Now before I tell you this next part, you are to promise me that you won't interrupt at all"
"Okay, I promise"
"Well before I met you and the guys, there was this guy name Sean that I used to go out with. He was the sweetest guy you would have ever met. He was always wondering what I thought and always stood up for me. I thought I loved him, but boy was I wrong."
"Why? What happened?"
"Hey I thought I said no talking from you"
"Oops I forgot"
"Anyway, we were at this party one night for one of his friends and they were drinking and I didn't want to. Sean got all offensive and started screaming that if I didn't drink, he would tell everyone my secret"
"What was your secret?"
"My secret was that I was a virgin. Now before you say anything, I have to tell ya that Sean was a senior at the time, so of course most of his friends weren't virgins, even though I was only a freshmen"

Catelyn stopped and watched the color of Nick's eyes change from a compassionate blue to a blue that was filled with anger. She knew that she didn't make a mistake of telling him her secret and her problem about trusting men as soon as she saw that he really cared. You know what they say, you can tell anything about anyone through their eyes.

"You can stop their if you want"
"No, it's okay. I want to tell you"
"Oh, okay. Then continue my lady"
"Well, I didn't want everyone to know that I was a virgin so of course I started to drink. At first, I was only drinking a little but everyone that walked by gave me another drink. By the time I realized it, I was already drunk."

Cate then stopped and started to cry. She kept telling herself that she wasn't going to cry but she couldn't help it. Nick saw that she was going to break down any minute so he put his arm around her and kept telling her that it would be okay. Catelyn then gained the strength to finish her story.

"Sean told me that he wanted this night to be special. A night I would never forget. Well let me tell you, I haven't forgotten it yet"
"Why? What happened?"
"Well, he took me into this room and he started to kiss me. I tried to stop him but he wouldn't listen to me."
"That bastard! I would have killed him if I knew him."
"I am glad that you would, but I told you not to talk."
"I'm sorry. You can continue, but only if you want"
"I do. I kept on telling him to stop, but what ever I did it just didn't work. So I just gave up and let him rape me."
"What? I hate him and I don't even know him."
"Well he made me lose all trust in mankind."
"I hope you can learn to trust me cause I'd never hurt ya."
"I know and with the trust I think I am already."

For the next twenty minutes, Catelyn just cried on Nick's shoulder. Nick felt completely helpless. He just wanted to take all her pain away. All he did was run his hands through her hair and whispered in her ear that everything would be okay. After Catelyn felt like she had cried a river, she decided to go back to the club and enjoy the rest of my evening. As she entered the club with Nick by her side, she heard the first few notes of her favorite song. It was Jessica Simpson's "Your Faith in Me". Catelyn figured that she could make up for the dance she ran out on with Nick.

"Hey Nick, would you like to dance?" Cate asked Nick.
"Sure, I would love to." Nick replied, taking her hand and leading her to the dance floor.

Catelyn realized that she fit perfectly into Nick's arms. She felt the safest she had in a long time. Everyone else was about to go up to her and see how she was, but when they saw her with Nick, they knew she was going to be fine.

Never seen you there I'm so aware
How lucky I am baby
Cuz I don't deserve,
I don't come close,
To understanding baby
The logic of your kind of trust,
It amazes me, that
Someone like you would care enough
To just believe

Chorus:
Your faith in me,
It pulls me through
When there's nothing around
To hold onto
When I fall
When I'm weak
All the strength that I need
Is your faith baby
Your faith in me

Even when I fall I get along
Cuz our love is real baby
Its like salvation to my soul
Cuz that's how it feels baby
The sacred thing that I keep close
To carry on
And I know that I will be alright
And your here and all

*Chorus*

You make me feel I can walk on water
And nothing comes and gets me
Safe within your arms

*Chorus*

When I fall baby (4x)
When I'm weak baby
All I need baby Is your faith in me

"Nick, thank you for listening and I hope to see you again." Cate said as she was leaving the club.
"Yeah me too. How about we get together tomorrow and hang out?" Nick said.
"Sure, that sounds great. Here is my phone number, just give me a call." Cate said, giving he a piece of paper.
"Alrighty, see ya then." Nick replied.
