I have made three CD albums which I sometimes sell at performances, two of which, Nothing Between Us and Mojave Moon, are available at CDBaby.com. Time Flies can be ordered by email for $10.00. Please click on CD pictures below to go to the CDBaby store.
You can also download tracks from the above albums at Apple iTunes, for 99c each, and play them on your iPod.
If you would like to hear samples from my CDs you can also click on the titles below. They require Real Player, which you can download here. You can click on the song titles in the text for song lyrics.
The songs on Nothing Between Us were mostly written in the 1990s and tend to reflect my folk background, although they all have a full band sound thanks to my use of multitracking. They range from the acoustic guitar/piano/flute of the title track, Nothing Between Us, to rock/soul influenced School Of Love, and the Hip-Hop influenced Walk On Water. I wrote Magnolia for its pure simplicity and praise of nature. It was the only song recorded more or less live with no sync tracks, midi time code or other paraphernalia. I wanted it to sound like I was singing it in a folk club. Reflections of John (instrumental) is my Beatles tribute.
The theme of the moon on this album is meant to symbolize the different places I have called home, either in England or America, and the inspiration given to me by nature, whether sitting in my garden (click for lyrics) or driving through the desert in California and Nevada. The album features four instrumentals, the title track, which was inspired by a drive to Las Vegas, Pipes of Putney, which is in an unusual time signature, Fairy Song, inspired by the lush West Country in England, and City Light, which is an acoustic instrumental played in open tuning. All the songs are original apart from I Live Not Where I Love, which was written by William Shakespeare and has a traditional tune. Summer Song was inspired by the beautiful sunlight of Southern California, Picture Frame is a rock-ballad/love song, Don't Want is a socially minded rock song, and Clifton In My Mind is about my memories of Bristol, England, where I went to college.
Time Flies and
Give Me Time are home studio attempts at trying to describe, and get beyond our world of time and space, while several other tracks on the album have physically traveled through time on journeys from tape to digital format. They were recorded either solo with an old TEAC reel to reel, or with my band, the Gladys Bloggs Band. Soldier was recorded in Bristol while Love In A Balance and Summertime (George/Ira Gershwin) were recorded live at Rota Navy Base in Spain. And I Love Him is a cover of the Beatles song from A Hard Day's Night, which I hope I've done justice. Desert Suite is an eight minute combination of a piano song and guitar instrumental, and Next Time was written for my late husband Ron Ferrara (please also see video below).
