Background

Donna Nossett is a native New Mexican who graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Music. At UNM, she studied with William E. Rhoads and Floyd Williams. Previous studies were with Gregg Randall and Richard Shanley and at New State University with Ray Tross, some summer study with Robert Luyben and Mitchell Lurie. Later studies include Tina Ward, Luis Baez and Herbert Blayman. Single lessons have been taken with David Schifrin and Michelle Zukowsky. She as well played for Richard Stolzman in Master Class. She continues to study and learn daily.

Experience

Donna was a member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra for 18 years, which also included the New Mexico Symphony Woodwind Quintet, touring New Mexico and surrounding area schools, and the New Mexico Sinfonietta - a chamber music ensemble. She was principal clarinetist for 25 years in the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, also COA Woodwind Quintet touring Albuquerque schools in the "at risk" city program. She was also principal clarinetist of the Albuquerque Opera Theatre and been with Opera Southwest and Four Corners Opera. She has played with the Santa Fe Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Roswell Symphony, San Juan Symphony, Las Cruces Symphony and the San Francisco Ballet's Western Tour.

Donna is the clarinetist with the Albuquerque Wind Quintet and played regularly with Musical Theater Southwest. Her professional experience includes extensive chamber concerts and Solo Concertos. Her main love is her private studio students, but also is involved in ensemble coaching, clinics and master classes.

Studio

Donna Nossett has been teaching private clarinet in New Mexico for over 40 years. She is dedicated to her students, accepts students regardless of level, ability or talent. Her students play at a wide variety of levels which includes some of the top students in New Mexico. She teaches students from 3rd grade through the college level. Donna includes theory, technique, etudes and solo repetoire into her lessons, as well as fun, light pieces and ensembles. She continuously strives to keep interest and enjoyment in her lessons.
