SHERRI WILKINSON

Sherri Wilkinson was born in the small town of Woodslee, Ontario. Growing up in a musical family, having an Uncle, Aunt and cousins in a band of their own called the "Rhythm Ramblers", she was introduced to music at a very young age. She began singing in the church choir at age 13. At 15 years old, she had her first vocal training at the Academy of Ste. Cecile in Windsor, Ontario, where she studied under singer/teacher Yvette Ziter. She competed and won many competitions through the Kiwanis Music Festival where she sang Opera. In 1995, she competed in her first country music contest at the Essex County Fiddle and Singing Competition, where she won first place. This win encouraged her to compete in many more. In 1996, she won first place again at the Essex County Fiddle and Singing Competition and Second place in the duets catagory, but sadly, this was the final year that they held their competition. She also competed at the Comber Fair and won first place. She entered the Ruthven Apple Festival's 1st Annual Country Music Competition and won first place in 1997. She also won first place in the adult catagory and the duets catagory at the Comber Fair. In 1998, she performed at the Ruthven Apple Festival where she put on an exhilarating 30 minute show where she wowed the crowds. She also competed at a large competion at O'Donnells in Chatham, where she went up against 31 other singers and won first place, once again. 1999 was the first year that she entered the Tecumseh Corn Fest Singing Contest. Bringing tears to many eyes in the crowd, she won Best Female singer, competing against more than 30 singers. She also won first place at the 1st annual Paincourt Country Music Competition. Entering the Tecumseh Corn Fest Singing Contest again in 2000, she amazed the crowd once again and won Best Overall Performer, the highest title of the contest amounst more than 30 singers again. She also performed in a 30 minute show in Thamesville, Ontario, singing with a band and entertaining a very large crowd. After contacting a small bar in Michigan, she learned of an International Singing Contest and quickly crossed the border. She sang at a small pub and qualified the same night for the finals. She ranked in the top 10 out of more than 900 singers that tried out for the contest. In 2001, she sang in the Kingsville Fair Singing Contest and won first place.

The Diva

In 2000, she started working with James Staley at "The Studio" where she did many jingles for local radio stations. She recorded her very first original single on cd in 2001 entitled "Falling Out Of Love".

Country Spirit
