Singer Stories
Soon, I hope to fill this page with many personal stories of singers who visit this website. Anyone who submits a story can remain anonymous if they choose. These stories will be here to help fellow singers get through hard times, or just have more people to relate to.
Book Review
There is a book that I'm reading right now called A Soprano on Her Head by Eloise Ristad, that discusses all of the feelings that any performer goes through. It's quite fascinating. In the part I'm reading right now, Ristad talks about the inner voices "that turn into unseen judges that nag at us" for everything. The jugments we hear are comments like, "I'm not going to be able to hit this note today", or "I'm just not as good as the others." Basically what Eloise Ristad is trying to tell us is, if we keep on listening to these judges then we're going to start believing them sooner or later, and we shouldn't. If we just have confidence in our selves, and be the musicians that we know we can be, then the music will carry itself through us.
Well, this book is really good. I am not yet finished, but I suggest that everyone who is a performer, especially singers, read this book. It will help tremendously, and you'll find that you're not alone in the world when it comes to feelings like these.
