Welcome to what has become one of the main rooms of our home. There are many things in this room you might find to be of interest. The left wall is lined with ebony bookcases. I have written some of the books; others are by some of my favorite on-line authors. All, I feel, are well worthwhile reading.

In the wall in front of you is a large, black marble fireplace. Over the mantle is a painting: one half is a sunlit day, with the silhouette of woman; the other half is a moonlit night, with the silhouette of a winged-man; the hands of the silhouetted pair are joined in the center, before a sunset background. Rising gracefully on either side of the painting are elegantly shaped candelabras holding smooth white candles. The lights from these reflects the gilded frame. Beneath the painting is spread a variety of objects, each one from a different place; each one with a story behind it. There is a silver ring in the shape of a Claddagh, in a glass case. Beside it lies a dried black rose. Further along may be seen a pair of cat-like figurines, one black and one gold, rearing towards each other, wings spread behind them. Near one of the candelabras rests a gray mask, with black tears slipping away from empty eye-slots. Each item is part of one of the stories in this library. Curious now, are you, about which story each goes with? Well, I won't spoil any surprises by telling you which item goes with which story-you'll have to read the books to learn that.

You want to start on one now? That's fine! Just pull up a chair-I like that one next to the fire, when my husband isn't with me-that's right! Just make yourself comfortable. I'll be working in the kitchen if you want me.

Poetry

It's corny, but cute. If you're bored enough, check it out!

Poetry of Anne Bradstreet

Anne Bradstreet was the first published American poet, and her work holds meaning to this day. For poetry concerning romance, politics, family life, death, and many more topics, check out Anne Bradstreet's work.

Haiku of Foster Jewell

Foster Jewell was an American haiku poet and painter in the early and mid-1900’s. Jewell wrote primarily haiku—short verses dealing with nature and natural subjects, as opposed to senryu, which concerns personal interaction—in the traditional three line format. Jewell's haiku are beautiful, thoughtful, and occasionally humourous, observations of the world he saw around him.

This is my tribute to a man who's beautiful haiku are too little known.

High School Horrors

A few years ago, some friends and I gathered up all of those stories we had written for each other in class (when the teacher wasn't watching) and put them into a book. This magnum opus of our high school careers is called "High School Horrors," and we invite you to read these stories of horror, comedy, romance, and insanity. (Regarding that latter, I meant the authors, not the stories.) Enjoy your education at "High School Horrors"!

Here, for a limited time, is my sequel to Gaston Leroux's "The Phantom of the Opera." What if Erik, after his death, were confined to the Opera House, as a sort of ghost. And, what if, nearly 150 years after his death, a another lady were to enter his...life.

This first draft is a true "phan phic" down to the gramatical errors. ;) Enjoy!

Your obedient author,

E.S.
