January, 2013 Dear Master Singers, Happy New Year to you all! I hope you have had comforting holidays, filled with beautiful music, loving family and friends surrounding you. One of the delightful comments from our December concert was how it ushered in the beginning of the holiday festivities. There were exquisite moments of sound. The echoes of your precious singing have supported me, and I am sure others, through the tragic shadows that have covered our world this season. With unwavering dedication, caring, and love you choose to sing, creating music filled with a sound that touches the soul and lifts the heart … you are the blessing our world so desperately needs… Our Spring Concert is at the Bedford Presbyterian Church on April 14, 2013, one performance only on this Sunday at 4 p.m. Dress rehearsal with soloists and orchestra will be Friday evening, April 12. We are singing an all Vivaldi program of joyous smaller works including Beatus Vir RV 598, along with Vivaldi’s well-known Gloria, RV589. With Leslie Fagan joining us again and other amazing performers, Vivaldi’s music will shimmer with radiant delight. We last sang both these works in 2001, so it’s been a while! We will also sing Credo RV 592, Laudate pueri RV 602, and Lauda Jerusalem RV 609. Rehearsals begin Monday, January 28, at the Fox Lane Middle School Little Theatre on the Fox Lane Campus, Rt. 172 in Bedford. Registration for singers will begin at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals run from 8-10 p.m. along with sectionals scheduled during the week. In the event of inclement weather, we will use email to notify everyone if we need to cancel or reschedule rehearsal. So please let me know if you are planning on singing by emailing: leshadsell@optonline.net or calling 739-3669 or replying to this message. This is a perfect time to invite friends and new singers to join us. Please, invite more singers to be part of this thrilling music! Just forward this message to anyone that might be interested. Dues are for the spring season, plus the cost of music and study CD. As always, full or partial scholarships are available by speaking to me privately. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let me know so we can find a solution, and continue singing together! Please come and sing! Invite your friends to join us. Always, you are in my thoughts. Master Singers of Westchester was founded in 1981 by fifteen singers with a desire to perform great choral repetoire with professional orchestra and soloists and to share this quality musical experience within the community.
All singers are accepted without audition. Training in classical and baroque vocal technique is provided at rehearsals. New singers are welcome until ten weeks before the concert date. For information, call 914/739-3669. | |||||||||||
