Brad's Poem
There's one the Boys've sung
In the name of pure puppy love
One of the few where they didn't shout their love
From the ground to the skies above
A simple-
"Can I have a talk with you?"
Is the first thing to do
When you don't know what to do
"I can't seem to get my mind off you - I, uh...
I think that you're the one"
Will definitely get her attention
But now you've got to make your offer-
"Every day I will treat you right, I will never lie
I promise to you that I won't make you cry"
By now her heart will be getting softer, and a-
"Please tell me you're feeling the way that I do"
Will hopefully spark a reply along the lines of-
"Yes, I do"
But in every relationship
You've got to cope with smart remarks-
"It's only a puppy love. Their feelings aren't real"
But you know you're crazy about each other
'Cause your love could light up the dark
And for the rest of the year
You'll help with each other's homework
And exchange sweet kisses
That replace the inevitable tears
Before you promise that you'll never leave
Summer's here, and she's got to leave
You say you'll write and call
And pick up where you left off in the fall
But things just don't work out
You're in high school now, 8th grade's out
And that means new friends, new trends
But every now and then
When you pass each other in the crowded hall
A single look can reconnect you with heaven
Then she'll be gone and you're left standing there
Her perfume still lingering in the air
But in your heart you have a place
That could never be won in any kind of race
For that girl who passes you in the hall
But who will never, ever, call
I love you Mindy
