The Sacramento Kings --2000

Unofficial web site of the Kings.

 J Williams         C. Webber             V. Divac          C. Williamson   P. Stojakovic       J. Barry         L. Funderburk      S.Pollar

UPDATE:    Even without they leading scorer Christ Webber and starting shooting guard Nick Anderson, the 10 men Kings squart were able to keep their three game win streak agains defending champion San Antonio Spurs alive.   Jason Williams came up big in the forth quarter, making good decisions  and important shots down to the stretch.  He has been playing well in the last two weeks or so,  as his scoring has been up and his turn over to assite ratio has been going down.  That maybe a very good sign for the Kings because the playoff is just around the corner.  Although they have clinched a playoff spot, the KIngs are trying to get a better seed in the playoff.  If Jason can carry his performents into the playoff, with everyone healthy, there are no one Kings should be fear eventhough they don'y have the home court advantage.  As the number one team in the NBA right now, the L.A. Lakers has a 2-1 edge over the Kings for the season seris, but lets not forget that Kings could had won all three of the meetings if not because of some questionable officialing and  key injuries.  Team chemistry will be a very important factor to the suceess of the Kings during the playoff, if every thing going well, if they can play up to their oppenent's level, I think the Kings has a shot at the championship.  Heck, they already beaten the defending champion three times already, with one more game to go a week later at Arco Areana.

Old News:    I have been too lazy to update my web site, for that I apologize.  Anyway, after finishing the NBA longest 8 games road trip with a record of 3-5, the Kings beat the Bulls convincingly last night by 30 points.  The are likely to finish with a record of 30 and 18 before the All star break.  The Kings certainly play above people's expectation with such an impressive record, but they could have dione better on the road.  It is well known that Kings are successful because they pass the ball well, but for some reason, when they are on NBC, they play less like a team.  Most of the players are trying to showing off rather than winning the game, all those wild passes from Jason Williams, all those technical fouls Christ Webber had for hanging on the rim, and so on, those things take away their flow of the game, although they made audiences wow a lot.  The Kings will have a much tougher schedule in the second half of the season, most of their opponents will be rivals in the Western conference, which they normally don't do well against.  Not to say that they shouldn't keep their characters, but they could do better if they go back to the fundamental more often.

After a lost to Jazz by three points in front of the national audience, the Kings come back with a victory over the Hornets as they kick off a killer eight games east and midwest road trip.  Christ Webber and Nick Anderson again carry the Kings in the decisive forth quarter, and the Kings are now 26-13 as the result.  With Christ Webber working inside and Nick Anderson hitting threes out side, the Kings are very difficult to stop, and Kings' defends are the key to their success.  Divac may not score as many points as last season, but his good defends is what determines the out come of the game. Kings won one of their most impressive victory of the season by beating the defending champion San Antonio Spurs in Arco Arena.  They were down as much as 14 points in the second quarter but was able to take the lead in the middle of the forth quarter after a Stojakovic's three pointer.  C. Webb once again proved that he is the leader of this Kings team but scored six straight baskets to keep the  Kings alive.  Jason Williams scored 22 points but seen to be confused under Spur's defense.  The bench didn't score much but made a couple of key baskets at the final minutes of the game.  Along with Paja's eight points in the first 90 seconds of the four quarter, which gave the Kings their first lead since the beginning of the game, Jon Barry made a 25 feet three pointer that seal the victory for the Kings.
--After loosing two games in a row to Toronto and  Boston, the Kings won two in a row at home beating Indiana and Houston.  Nick Anderson finally play up to people's expectation as his shooting touch once again has got back to him.  The "Bench mob" struggled in the last few games but the starters stepped up to keep the team from falling down.  If the Kings want to win the next game, which is against the defending world champion San Antonio, both the bench and the starters have to at their best to stand a chance, for that they are not match well against the world champion. A three games win streak is what Kings going to have when they become the YAK Kings.  The victory in Seattle takes Kings over the Suns and the Supersonics and rest them on the fifth place in the Western Conference as the year 2000 begins.  Their next games is on Tuesday  against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Both Jason Williams and Maxwell didn't play in Thursday's game, but the Barry brothers were on each other's nose in one of the most exciting games of the season.
Peja Stojakovic showed Kings fans why he is worth 3 years of waiting Tuesday night by scoring two important baskets to keep Kings on the Game when they seen to lose momentous during the fourth quarter.  Kings beat the Celtics with a score of 114-101.  The victory puts Kings five games above .500, and they are now two games behind the Seattle supersonics, who are now six place in the Western conference.  Stojakovic came out hot tonight, scored 13 point in the second quarter to lead King's bench outscored Celtics bench 26-6 in the quarter.
-- The Kings will play the Seattle Supersonics tomorrow night in Seattle.  Defense should be the key to the games because Sonic would be unstoppable if G. Payton, V. Baker, and former King V. Maxwell play up to their potential.

--After a disappointing lost to the Clippers, which cost me five dollar by the way (thank you very much), the Kings bounds back yesterday by beating the Dallas mavericks at home.  They have now improve they record to 15-10, still seven place in the Western Conference.  They next opponent is Boston Celtics, which will come to town tomorrow.  It seems that the Kings had been relied on Christ Webber too much in the last few games, and it is not a good sign for a team that is successful because of the passing.   It is important for guys like Divac and Anderson to step up to take pressure off C. webb.

--The Kings are now 14-9, seventh place in the Western Conference.  With a win over the Bucks two nights ago, they stopped a three games losing streak.  Tonight they're going to face the L.A. Clippers, who are struggle recently but always play well against the Kings.  Me and my co-worker, who is a dead heart Clipper's fan, are betting on this game for five dollars.  Kings has the reputation of playing on the level of their opponent, so even though the Clippers is one of the worse teams in the NBA, there is still a chance that they might beat the Kings, just like the Warriors, who had beat the Kings a few nights ago.
The return of reserve guard Jon Barry certainly will increase the chance of winning for the Kings, who had struggle since he was sidelined due to injury.  Barry is one of the most consistent players Kings have, but his emotion is what the Kings really need.   The Kings is a very talented Team, they can beat any team in the NBA in any given night, what they need is someone who can spark the team emotionally, so that they can perform up to their potential.

Kings Rule!
