Harsch Sounds is the base of operations for independent composer/musician and audio engineer Robert Harsch.
I've made three tours around the USA as the sound engineer for the Montana Repertory Theatre, and spent 2 seasons as Associate Sound Designer for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery before returning to Missoula. I play keyboards & bass guitar, sing, and take on free-lance composition, performance & recording projects - everything from playing piano for weddings to running sound for concerts and special events to recording live performances or multi-tracking studio recordings.
While in the southeast, I spent some time playing keyboards with Sonic Sunday in the Atlanta area, and in Missoula, I've played keys with rock bands like The Boogiemen and The Levitators, as well as some pick-up jazz combos.
I also play bass in a group called 9 x 13. Our instrumentation starts with 5-string fretless acoustic bass guitar and mandolin (4- & 8-string electrics, 8-string acoustic). We've played as a duo, added a djembe player on one occasion, as a power trio w/ drums, and as a quartet w/ drums & guitar, and we've recorded as a "live" trio plus keyboard overdub.
I have recorded one CD with The Levitators called Mustangs In The Desert (2001), and have released one CD of original instrumental music, Montana Soundscapes. Currently, the 2nd Levitators album is nearing completion, and I hope to have a new "solo" project done by summer 2008.
