The Original Series

ROCK 'N ROLL MEMORIES

In the Beginning

The original show was the brainstorm of Michael Menor. He thought that an unique method of raising funds in the Kingston area for a new school safety program might be through a concert. Next in line to help was Dave Bull who supported Mike's original idea and expanded it to create a Memories Show like no other.

Michael was able to assemble a group of friends to assist him on stage and while having some fun, raise funds for a worthwhile cause.

With the help of Michael's girlfriend, they created an Elvis suit worthy of wearing. On October 16, 1999 at location on Queen's University campus, the first tribute show took place. With the assistance of local television, radio and newspapers, the concert was sold out and was immediately a huge success.

A second show was performed in Belleville, Ontario in December 1999 and was also a huge success.

Michael is a Kingston native, and is also a 13 year veteran of the Kingston Police Force. He is currently assigned to the Youth Services Section where he teaches elementary school children messages of safety. His interest in the music of Elvis Presley dates back to his early childhood where he listened to his mother's vinyl records. Michael takes great pride in his tribute to Elvis Presley and hopes you will enjoy his rendition of "The King" from the 1970's.

Dave Bull has been a Kingstonian since 1983. Originally from Toronto, Dave has played in various bands since 1976. Besides playing the part of Buddy Holly, he is a member of Kingston's newest jazz rock band "Sunny Lemon Tina". They have a new CD and are playing the local circuit to rave reviews. The Crickets, in fact, are played by two band members (bassist Marty Crapper and drummer Stu Pike) from Sunny Lemon Tina. Dave spent the previous decade playing in a group called "The Rave", which played some 400 engagements in and around Kingston and Eastern Ontario. He has been credit/investment manager at Kingston Credit Union since 1989. For more info on Dave and his present projects visit his website at Buddy Holly Live.
