ordos
designate a players rank in Capoeira, much as belts do in other martial arts.
The cordos colors show a capoeiristas ranking. These rankings are given out
based on a Capoeiristas experience and mastery in Capoeira. This is not only
true for beign able to perform the moves, but for music and song as well. An
experienced capoeirista should also be able to sing the songs and play the instruments.
Batizado means baptism and serves as a statement that a student has been baptosed
into Capoeira and is officially recognised as a Capoeirista. You are then known
to others by you ncikname, given to you by your mestre.
The first row of cordos are received about one year apart from each other and are given as experience and technique increases untill you graduate (blue cordo). Then follows the next row of cordos shows the advancement from instructor to 3rd degree Master. Thw white cordo means you are a estre, but to obtain this you have to be practising Capoeira for a looong time.
Scroll over the cordos to view a more detailed description and to view the ranking of the cordo.
