The Rain

By: Eric Truitt

Like the rain I fell,
You stood under your umbrella,
I could not reach you,
Then you withdrew your umbrella,
I poured myself onto you,
You were saturated in me,
Long you stood there,
Letting me pour across you,
You even opened your mouth,
Let me inside,
Now your umbrella is up again,
You have dried yourself of me,
Once again I cannot reach you,
But I am still inside of you,
I am a part of you forever.

Oh lord let me keep falling,
Do not cast the sun upon me,
For someday,
Someone else may withdraw their umbrella for me.
