Falling

By: Eric Truitt

I was standing on the edge of my life,
And I jumped,
Thinking I had wings,
Thought I could fly,
So lost in myself I was floating,
Began to fall,
Then almost at the bottom,
I fell into you.

Now I am falling,
Please here me screaming,
Screaming your name,
Trying to wake your heart,
Hard I hit the ground,
Reality once again disproving my invincibility.

Why am I doing this?
Can't I just get away from love?
Everyday I am falling,
Each day further and further,
And I can't escape,
But then I ask myself do I really want to?
