Away

By: Eric Truitt

I lay in this place of dreams,
Wishing only to be awake,
I'm lost again in your eyes it seems,
And if love someday my heart redeems,
It will be yours make no mistake.

You like to kiss and hold me tight,
But in your mind so much unsaid,
And still your smile remains so bright,
I wish that you lay beside me tonight,
In this, empty, lonely, foreign bed.

But the reality I can't escape,
You are many miles away,
I feel my eyes are shut with tape,
And over my heart loneliness does drape,
Until I may be with you another day.
