Natural Gait Horsemanship

Jack Emory

Basic Philosophy of "Natural Gait Horsemanship".

The concepts, style and techniques used by "Natural Gait Horsemanship" in their training programs can be expressed with well known terms such as "natural", "conditioned response", "feel-timing- balance", "less is more", etc. These terms are not often heard in the world of soft gaited horses and this is why the "Natural Gait Horsemanship" programs were developed. Bringing natural horsemanship practices into the training of the soft gaited horse is their focus.

Colt Starting and Training

Building a strong foundation with the horse is the primary focus for all training the first several years of a horse's life. A complete (finished) horse must be developed in mind, body and spirit. All aspects of training should address this criteria while accomplishing training goals. A solid foundation will prepare the horse for a lifetime of learning experiences. In general, the more "broke" a horse is, the better life they and their owners can expect.

Gait Development

Training segments directed at gait development are created individually for each horse based on age, conformation, natural gaits, conditioning, rider ability and intended use. There generally is a larger learning curve here for the rider then there is for the horse.

OUR INITIAL FOCUS IN ALL ACTIVITIES IS SAFETY AND BUILDING RIDER CONFIDENCE. THIS FOCUS IS CARRIED THROUGH OUT ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS.
