The corner stone marking the special dates
in history of Montvale Baptist Church.
On July 27, 1947 a group of believers living in the community of
Montvale, Virginia gathered at the old Montvale High School
to begin the process of forming a Bible believing,
Gospel sharing local church.
It was from this gathering of believers that Montvale Baptist was born.
The beginnings of Montvale Baptist Church
were humble indeed.
The First Service of Montvale Baptist Church July 27, 1947
The first services were held in the home of S. R. Giles
until a temporary home for the new church family could be found.
The Lord was pleased to bless the
new church family and on April 26, 1948 ground breaking
was held for the church building which is still
the home of Montvale Baptist Church today.
A further proof of God's blessing on this ministry
was that in a very short period of time the new
building was opened and dedicated to the Lord's
service later in 1948.
Four years later the first full time pastor was
called to serve the church family.
The parsonage was built and the ministry was
able to purchase some new furniture.
A few years later (1957) the basement was completed
and the construction of the new wing was finished.
To celebrate the 21st anniversary of Montvale Baptisr Church
the service concluded with the burning of the notes on the
church building and the parsonage.
Over the sixty years of service to the Lord there
have been a number of godly men who have filled the pulpit:
(the street on which Montvale Baptist is named for Pastor Yeatts),
A. C. Hollins,
and Melvin Poff (current pastor).
The Lord has called several men into the ministry
from Montvale Baptist over the years:
Pleas Falls, Richard Calhoun, E. J. Hartberger,
Allen Dooley, Luther Witt, Virgil McHorne,
Jeff Richards and Todd Hollins.
On July 29, 2007, Montvale Baptist will celebrated
60 Years of Serving the Lord with
a special celebration of worship, fellowship meal
and a special afternoon song service.
May the Lord be pleased to continue to bless this
