Beefburgers


  • Makes 4

  • Ingredients


    250g/ 8oz minced beef
    1 small onion
    Salt and pepper
    For frying: lard, dripping, or oil


    Method


    Peel and grate the onion, mix with the meat add salt and pepper
    divide into 4 and shape each into round cakes about 20mm/¾' thick on a floured board.
    Either grill for about 10 minutes, turning once, or fry for 5 minutes each side


  • Serve with either barbecue sauce or tomato sauce.



  • Beefburgers with barbecue sauce


    Ingredients


    beefburgers as above
    1 small onion
    15g/ ½ oz. margerine
    2tblsp tomato ketchup
    1 tblsp vinegar


    Method


    Grate the onion put in a small pan with the other ingredients,
    simmer very gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
    make the beefburgers as in the recipe above,put them in a grill pan without the grid
    spoon the sauce over and grill gently for 10 minutes each side
    basting occasionally with the sauce


  • Either serve in bread buns or in a warm shallow serving dish garnished with slices of tomato and parsley
