Until There Was You, Ch. 11

Chapter Eleven

Sandi hadn’t mentioned Tony to John last night.Sandi explained that Tony was her ex-boyfriend. Sandi and Tony had begun to have problems in the relationship. They began to fight a lot and he was becoming verbally abusive to Sandi. Sandi wanted to try and work things out with Tony.

She told John how she caught Tony with another girl in his car and they were in the midst of a very hot and heavy make-out session. That was the last straw.

Sandi said it was dark in Tony’s car that night and she couldn’t see who the girl was, but she had hair just like Carol’s. Sandi believed it was actually Carol.

“He broke my heart, Winston,” Sandi said with tears in her eyes. “I really believed he loved me. I haven’t been able to date anyone since then. I felt as if I couldn’t trust guys.” Sandi was really beginning to cry now. “I’m sorry,” Sandi said, sniffling. “It just hurts so much when someone you loved betrays you and treats you like garbage.”

Sandi began sobbing very hard, she was shaking. Feeling emabarrassed, she jumped up from the kitchen table and ran up to her bedroom, threw herself onto her bed and bawled.

John followed her up to her bedroom. It hurt him to see her in so much pain. He felt so much rage at Tony for hurting Sandi. He wanted to hunt him down and kill him with his bare hands.

Sandi was lying face down on the bed. She hadn’t seen John enter her room. John sat down on the bed beside her, rubbing her back.

“Sandi, luv, don’t cry.” John said soothingly. “Tony was a right bastard to do that to you. How could anyone want to hurt you? I’d like to find that bloke and kill him!”

“Would you really do that for me?” said Sandi, looking up at John.

“If you think it would help, then you bet I would!”John said, laughing.

Sandi sat up on her bed beside John. She looked at him and managed a smile.

“Oh, no, please don’t do that,” Sandi said, “you would go to prison and if that happened, The Beatles couldn’t conquer the world and I’d be responsible!” Sandi said, grinning.

John got up and went to the bathroom to wet a washcloth. He brought it back to Sandi and began to wash her face with it. He hated to see her sad.He knew then and there that he really loved her.

“Thank you, Winston,” she said softly when John finished wiping her face.

“The pleasure was all mine,” John replied sweetly. He then pulled Sandi to him and kissed her on the forehead. “I would never hurt you , kitten, you know that. You can trust me. Do you trust me?” John asked seriously.

“Yes, I do trust you. I know you wouldn’t hurt me and I feel safe with you. I have only known you for two days, but I feel as if I have known you all my life.”

She thought for a minute. Had he just called her kitten? She asked him to be sure she had heard right.

“Yes, luv, I did call you kitten. From now on, you will be known as kitten. You are a lot like a kitten, soft, warm, and cuddly and I bet if I stroked you just right, I could make you purr!” He leered mishievously at Sandi.

“Oh, you!” Sandi said. She was laughing so hard. “Get your mind out of the gutter and take me sightseeing!”

“Right. Let’s go hit the town, kitten.” Sandi freshened up a bit and out the door they went.
