Out of Your Shell 2, ch. 6 Chapter Six

Awakening the next morning, Jeanna looked over and saw that John was sitting up with his back to her smoking a cigarette.

"Morning, John." she smiled.

"Oh, you're up, did you sleep well, have any dreams?" he asked turning his head to see her.

"Um, yeah I slept well, and no, not that I can remember." she lied, she did have a dream, she just didn't want to tell him what it was about. John and herself running off to get married....HA!!! Rubbish!

"Jeanna, how would you feel about leaving tomorrow?" John asked, changing the subject.

"I wouldn't mind at all." she replied.

"Good, then we shall leave tomorrow." he smiled awkwardly.

"Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you, I'm going to go out with Ramsey today, so you can have the house to yourself, your last day of peace." she told him, happy that she was doing something for him.

John looked as if he hadn't heard her as he looked off into space. "You know, I was thinking, you are gonna have a great time in London." he smiled.

"John, did you hear what I said?" she laughed. No answer.

"Hello, John." she waved her hand in front of his face.

"Yeah, wha?" Finally responding.

"I told you, I'm going out with Ramsey today, you can have one last day of peace and quiet." she smiled.

"Oh, well, I kinda wanted to spend our last day here alone together." He replied a little disappointed and it showed.

"Well, don't worry, I'll be back by three at least." She reassured him.

Why would he want to spend his last day with me? she thought.

"Good." he said taking her hand and kissing it softly, just before getting up and leaving the room.

Looking at the clock, she realized that it was almost 10AM, picking up the phone, she dialed Ramsey.

"Hmm, hello." he said groggily from the other end.

"Ramsey, were you sleeping?" she asked.

"Oh, yeah, but I need to get up anyway." he replied sleepily.

"OK, well, when did you want to get together today?" she inquired.

"Can you be ready in thirty minutes?" he returned.

"Yeah, I'll see you then." she responded.

With that, she hung up the phone, and proceeded to start her day. Getting up to see what John was up to, she saw him across the hall in his room.

"Hey, whatcha doin?" she asked leaning on the door frame.

"Just trying to pack up my stuff." he replied while folding up his clothes.

"OK, well, I'm going to get dressed and ready, I'll be leaving in thirty minutes." she informed him.

"By the way, what do I need to bring with me to London?" she asked.

"Well, I don't know how long we'll be there, so, you should probably bring at least 2 weeks of clothes, and if you need more, we could always shop." he said, smiling brightly.

"Would you like me to start packing some of your things while you're gone?" he asked sweetly.

"Well, you don't need to do that." she replied.

"I insist, I'll just pack all of your jeans, and I'll grab a couple of dresses, shirts, blouses, skirts, and shoes." he encouraged.

"All right, thanks." she said gratefully.

Walking back to her room, she picked out a simple outfit for the day, a pair of faded Levi's, and a tight cobalt blue peasant shirt with bell sleeves and a scoop neck.

She showered, dressed, applied her make-up, and slipped on her shoes.

Walking out of her bedroom, she quickly turned back, and applied her favorite perfume.

As she walked into the living room to wait for Ramsey, she saw that he was already there waiting on the couch with John.

"Hey, Ramsey." she said as she walked in.

"Hey, where you wanna go today? How about lunch?" he inquired.

"Sure, sounds great." she replied as she noticed John staring strangely at her, which made her very self-conscious.

"John, is there something on me or what?" she asked nervously.

"Uh, oh, no." he said, breaking out of his daze. "I just, well, I've never seen anyone look like that in jeans." he said still staring in awe.

Jeanna could now fell her body turn 100 shades of red.

"Thank you." she smiled innocently.

"OK, well, are you ready to go?" Ramsey asked smiling knowingly.

"Um, yeah. We'll be back shortly." she said to John.

All walking to the door, Jeanna grabbed her purse and keys.

"Bye John." Ramsey said.

"See ya," he replied.

"I'll see you later." John said to Jeanna.

Just before walking out the door, John pecked Jeanna on the lips, just a peck, like it was a normal everyday thing.

When Jeanna realized, they just stood there looking at each other awkwardly.

"Uh, bye." she smiled nervously and closed the door.

"So, where do you want to eat for lunch?" Ramsey asked while flipping the radio in the car.

"How about Barbara Jean's?" she suggested.

"Great. So, what was that back at the house?" he asked slyly.

"What, what are you talking about?" she blushed.

"You know what I'm talking about, that little kiss, what was that?" he asked again smiling.

"Well, I don't know, things are so confusing right now." she replied.

"Yeah, I bet." he mumbled.

"Oh, you know what? I'm leaving tomorrow." she said, trying to change the subject.

"To London?" he replied.

"Yeah, so I guess it's good we're spending time together today."

"When are you coming back?" he asked as he parked at the cafe.

"I don't know, I have no clue how long I'll be gone." she answered becoming sullen.

Walking in the cafe, they seated themselves and ordered their drinks.

"What's the matter now?" he asked, pretending to be annoyed.

"Well, it's just that when I come back, I know it's going to be over." she replied sadly.

"What's going to be over, you and John?" he asked.

"Well, yeah, I don't know, what if I never see him again?" she asked.

"Jeanna, let me tell you, I know that won't happen." he replied confidently.

"How can you be so sure?" she asked while pouring a large amount of sugar in her tea.

"Hey, Jeanna, you want some tea with that sugar?" he asked sarcastically.

"Oh, shit." she said laughing. "I wasn't paying attention."

"Anyway, don't change the subject. How can you be so sure that this won't be my last days with him?" she asked skeptically.

"Well, let's just say, John and I had a talk." he replied with a sneaky smile creeping on his face.

"What did he say, tell me tell me!" she asked excitedly, clapping her hands together.

"Just trust me that it's all good." he replied smiling, he knew she was dying to know.

"Fine, don't tell me, I don't care, as long as it's good." she smiled.

"Yeah, trust me, it's great." he replied laughing just as their food arrived.

"Let's just eat, I'm starving." she giggled.

I wonder what he said to Ramsey? she thought curiously to herself. Whatever it is, if Ramsey said it's good, it must be. she thought smiling and continued eating.
