Got to Get You Into My Life, Ch. 10 Chapter Ten

I.
On March 10, they were back in London, but not for long. Two days later they were in Salzberg, Austria for more filming of the movie. The girls didn't know how the boys could stand this exhausting pace of life. Then again they wouldn't miss going to the Alps for anything. When they arrived Brian had rented a ski lodge for them. It was beautiful and had a rustic look about it.

That night they all sat by the fireplace and popped popcorn and talked about music and the movie. Soon everyone retired to bed.

The next morning Joey woke up and glanced at the clock. She jumped up, got dressed and went downstairs. The boys were laughing and kidding while making breakfast.

"Hey Joey, go wake up the others." George said.

"Okay!" Joey agreed cheerfully.

Joey was ready to learn how to ski and she wanted to get out there as soon as possible. Neil had seen to it that ski instructors were on site. It took awhile but they were actually ready by noon to try one of the bunny slopes. On the way down the hill Joey was able to stop herself off to the side of the run and did so to adjust a ski. Paul came up behind her amd surprised to see her stopped, he lost control and ran into Joey, knocking her down. The breath was knocked out her momentarily, but soon she was giggling as four Beatle faces looked down at her.

"Hey Joey, are you okay?" Paul asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay. How about you?" she asked. "Fine, just dandy." he remarked sarcastically and threw his gloves down in disgust. By the time they finished skiing, it was noon.

"Hey, let's go get something to eat, I'm starved." Ringo said.

"Is he always hungry?" Joey aksed Jenny.

"I think sex and food are his two favorite past times." John said and everyone laughed. Jenny was around three months pregnant by now. After eating some of them went back outside and some of the others just wanted to rest.

II.
Joey was one of ones who was going to rest. She went to her room and went to sleep. About ten minutes later Jana came in screaming and crying.

"I think I'm pregnant." she said.

"Not you too! Are you trying to be funny?" Joey asked grinning. Then she ran over to the window lifted it up and stuck her head out and yelled to the group below.

"Hey everybody, Jana's trying to winn an Academy Award for best actress."

Jana came over to the window and slammed it shut. "Would you please be serious." she pleaded.

"No." Joey said. "Do you really expect me to believe that or is that your only way of getting attention around here?"

By this time all of the boys were upstairs knocking on the door along with Jenny and Patti.

"Wait a minute." Joey called to them. "Now dry your eyes and act like nothing's wrong."

"Just let Jenny and Patti in." Jana said while drying her eyes.

Then Joey opened the door and trying to act like nothing is wrong she said, "Tickets please."

"What the hell is wrong up here?" John asked.

"Watch your language there are women pregnant...I mean present." Joey said.

"I don't care." John answered.

"I believe it. Only Jenny and Patti can come in right now. We'll get back to you soon." Joey said.

"Come on John, let them get their girl talk over with." Paul said tugging at John's sleeve.

"Well, you can just go to..." John started saying, then Joey slammed the door cutting him off.

"Jenny and Patti, I have good news." Joey said.

"What? What?" Jenny asked.

"Jana blew it again." Joey grinned.

"You're kidding. What did she do this time?" Patti asked.

"She went and got herself pregnant." Joey said seriously.

"Hey, wait a minute." Jana interupted. "I had some help. This is a two-person thing, you know."

"Why did you go and do that for?" Jenny asked. "Were you afraid of being left out? Like the only one here not having a baby?"

"I'm not." Joey said.

"Neither am I." Patti said.

"It seemed like a good idea at the time." Jana answered. The other three girls just smiled at her.

"Oh would please be serious, I'm in trouble." Jana cried.

"We know that." Joey, Jenny, and Patti said at the same time.

"How far along do you think you are?" Patti asked.

"I don't think I know. 3 months maybe." Jana mused.

"Three months? If you haven't had your monthly visitor for three months then it's obvious isn't it?" Jenny said. The three girls just smiled at Jana once again.

"You really think you're funny don't you? Well you aren't going to make me the laughingstock of the ski lodge." Jana said and started crying again.

"We'll be serious now, but what do you want us to do?" Jenny asked.

"Figure out a way to tell John." Jana said.

"I really think you should tell him Jana." Joey said. "Or I could tell Paul and he'll tell John."

"Lord no! I don't want anyone else to know yet!" Jana exclaimed and started crying harder. "Jenny, you tell him."

"Me? Why me?" Jenny asked.

"You're the smooth talker." Joey reminded her.

"Okay. When do you want me to tell him?" Jenny asked. "Right now, or as soon as you get the nerve." Jana sniffed.

"I have enough nerve, but how do you put it into words? Do you want me to walk up and say, Hey Jana is pregnant and it's all your fault, or something dumb like that?' Jenny questioned.

"Go tell him, will you." Joey said while pushing Jenny out the door.

Jenny started down the hall mumbling. Paul opened his door and asked, "What's the matter with you?"

"Never mind me. Where's John?" Jenny asked.

"Why do you want to know?" Paul asked.

"You sure are nosy." Jenny said becoming annoyed.

"Well, I'm not going to tell you unless you explain what's happening." Paul said acting snobbish and making Jenny grin.

John walked up behind Paul. "What is it you want me for?"

"I can't tell you around this nosy person." Jenny remarked.

Then Paul made a face at her making her laugh.

"What I wanted to tell you John is that Jana is pregnant." She turned to Paul. "Satisfied?"

Paul turned red and said nothing. With that Jenny ran down the hall to Ringo's room.

"Paul, you sure are nosy." Joey said in an angry voice.

"Well, I didn't know." he replied.

"You really had no right to know what's going on. It's really only Jana and John's business." Joey said in an less angry tone.

Meanwhile John hadn't moved or said anything.

"Where's Jana? I don't believe it. I didn't think anything like this would happen. It's all my fault." John said nervously.

"She's in her room, John." Joey told him.

Joey started toward the stairs when Paul grabbed her arm.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"Somewhere away from all this riftraft." Joey said wearily.

"What's wrong with you tonight?" he asked.

"It's not me." Joey said. "It's everything and it's you."

Her words stung Paul and he looked hurt. He grabbed her arm again and this time he shook it in her face so she would see the bracelet he had given her.

"I thought you cared about me," he said bitterly.

"I do. Oh Paul, I'm sorry I said what I did. I didn't mean to hurt you." Joey said and went to hug him.

Suddenly Ringo and Jenny came around the corner.

"What's going on around here?" he demanded to know. "Jana's gotten herself into trouble." Paul said.

"Oh brother, why does everybody have problems around here?" He grabbed Jenny's hand and left the hall.

"What's wrong with those two?" George asked as he walked up.

"Who?" asked Paul who was looking lovingly at Joey.

"Ringo went storming out the door as mad as could be dragging Jenny with him." George said.

Joey updated George on what was happening. He sighed heavily and left the hallway shaking his head. The door to Jana's room opened and John and Jana stepped out.

"Well?" Joey asked.

"I've got good news." John said smiling. "Jana and I are going to get married."

"Oh Jana, that's wonderful." Joey said and gave her a hug.

"Could you excuse us for a moment?" Paul pulled Joey aside. "We need to talk."

They went to his room. With all the talk of having babies Paul needed to tell Joey something very important to him.

"Joey, you know I love you. Well, I want you to be the mother of my children."

Joey gasped. "Was this a marriage proposal?" she thought to herself.

"Let me finish. There will no unprotected sex between us unless we get married. I don't want to get married or have children until all this Beatles madness settles down. I don't want to be away from my family when they need me the most. Right now it's just too busy. I will not pressure you in any way to be intimate with me until you are ready. You'll know when the time is right." Paul breathed a sigh of relief. There was a long silence before Joey said anything.

"If that's the way you want it then I will go along with it. It's nice to konw that you care and respect me so much."

"I want more out of our relationship than just sex. Just remember I love you. There's lots of ways for me to show you that I do." he said.

"I love you too." she whispered.

Paul held her tight. Then he laid her on the bed and began to kiss her neck, ears and lips. His warm breath against her ear sent chills down her spine as Paul kept whispering I love you in-between kisses.
