I don't really have much to say about this matter, that has not been said before. Yet, I believe this site might be slightly informative. I've created a list of authors whom I consider of literary importance, and linked these to their official or unofficial websited. You can also continue to my site with links to online books, mainly classical works whose authors died so long ago that the copyright is no longer valid - and links to several other such pages.

On-Line Books: a great collection of books, yet a bit difficult to find the good stuff if you don't know exactly what you're looking for.
Biblomania: Searchable works of fiction
Internet Public Library: Ca 13,000 titles online
BiblioBytes, publisher of free e-books. Don't know much about the quality of this one.
Ordering literature through the internet:
Amazon.com: Probably the world's largest online bookshop
Amazon.co.uk: European version, the quickest alternative for European residents.
abebooks.com: bookshop in the US which I've never tried.
Indian Books Centre, to avoid too much ethnocentrism.
Bookdealers: A great link list of online bookdealers all over the world.
