Gap Mountain

Elevation: 2675 m / 8774 ft

Degree of Difficulty:

Difficult, some exposure

Time to Complete Round Trip:

4 - 6 hours

This mountain is very fun, and a marathon effort is not required. You could be swilling beer before most stiffs have punched the clock at 5 pm. Enjoy.

Where to Park:

Drive down the Kananaskis Trail , then up the Valleyview Trail to a spot called the Little Highwood. Leave your car there.

The Route (see photos below):

Walk the Valleyview Trail, then head up a gully toward the Gap col. It is very easy to find the correct route.

As you approach the col, the mountain is to the left. The most treacherous part is just after the col, where a slip would be your last. So careful. The rest of the way is more fun than scary, but a few points along the way require caution. Cairns and slightly visible paths lead the way.

Enjoy the summit views and head back the same way. Now wasn't that worth it?

Nice views of the Kananaskis chain Lakes and Mount Indefatigable.

Thank you for visiting the summit of Gap Mountain and keeping it clean.
