Mount Chester, Spray Lakes

Elevation: 3054 m / 10,017 ft

Degree of Difficulty:

Moderate

Time to Complete Round Trip:

4 - 7 hours

Where to Park:

On the Smith-Dorrien / Spray Lake reservoir road, highway 742, park at the Chester Lake parking lot.

The Route (see photo below):

Walk up the trail to Chester Lake. When you're at the lake you'll see a fork in the path. You'll head to the right and make your way to the avalanche gully below the col (see photo). Try to stay on the path for as long as possible to avoid damaging the fragile alpine flowers and lichens . . . o.k., I sound like a nanny . . . go ahead and grind everything under your jackboots. On second thought, don't do that; bad karma, brother.

Head up to the summit. This is a pretty basic uphill plod with a few handholds required here and there. Kane deems it a "moderate", so I will bow to his authority.

Have fun enjoying the summit views, and return the same way.

Thank you for visiting Mount Chester and keeping it clean.
