Number Theory

I found this to be an easy-to-read introduction to number theory. It is the first place I turn when faced with a number theoretic problem. William J LeVeque's Fundamentals of Number Theory
Some familiarity with a little calculus will help, but no deep knowledge is needed. This Dover edition keeps the price LOW.

Calculus...

Stewart's Calculus is the text I learnt from, and teach from. It is full of examples, and explanations. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, it is also somewhat pricey

Abstract Algebra

This is my favourite University Level Textbook. A very good introduction to abstract algebra, covering groups, rings, fields, polynomials, and finally Galois theory and the unsolvability of the quintic. Well worth the price.
Fraleigh's First Course in Abstract Algebra
