![]() Welcome to My Garden Spot! Do you enjoy playing in the dirt as much as I do? Especially after a long day sitting at the computer, I find that puttering around in my garden is relaxing, giving me a sense of closeness to nature, and a peaceful time of communication, even Worship, with the Creator...remember the Garden of Eden?
Working the warm earth, planting vegetable seeds or flower bulbs, watering, checking progress, and finally, seeing something I planted actually sprout, then flower, or produce fruit, gives me a sense of well-being and accomplishment...ah, Spring! I confess, I am not as enthusiastic about pulling weeds and cleaning debris. And I can't use any of those fancy knee pads gardeners are supposed to use because of these old arthritic bones...my greatest gardening tip of all is the use of an old plastic milk crate! This doubles as a carry-all and a seat. I can sit for hours and putter in my garden. Just give me some space... Some of my best conversations with the Lord are while planting and aerating or while gathering ripe squash, squash flowers, green beans, and tomatoes. For those who haven't gotten the gardening *bug* the satisfaction in gardening is something that can't be explained. It IS work to have a beautiful garden, and it can be rather a rather *pricy* hobby, too. But when neighbors admire the lushness of my veggie garden or passers by think my flowers are glorious, well, just can't help but feel accomplishment and joy! Don't get me wrong--I'm not an avid gardener, but I must confess that the gardening bug has bitten me and each year seems to bring more flowers and veggies than the last... It is my hope you will enjoy My Garden Spot. My goal here is to provide you with Gardening Tips, Gardening Links, Sources for Shopping for Gardening Supplies, Inspiration, and above all...Food for your Soul. Please feel free to stop back anytime as I will be constantly adding new ideas and tips and updating this page. HAPPY GARDENING!

![]() ANIMAL BONE MEAL: If you are prone to apply animal bone meal to your garden, beware! This is something I either read or figured out on my own or a combination: I don't believe there are stringent federal laws regarding what types of bones can be used in bone meal or where the bones come from. So, knowing some foreign countries have a problem with "mad cow disease" among others, and knowing that a lot of stuff is imported these days, I would rather stay away from any animal bone meal, not knowing where the ingredients came from. One never knows, but caution questions whether or not any of these diseases could be picked up or ingested from the application of such products. You decide. I'm no scientist and I have no facts, but it IS something to question and think about.![]()
