| Description | After a devastation Earthquake, Mega Tokyo rose from the wrecks of the old Tokyo. This new city was built by a multinational corporation named GENOM, which have made great achievements on the Boomer (Voomer, in Japanese or also Booma). Which are intelligent robots/androids that can resemble human beigns. GENOM also have a secret agenda of global domination and the Boomers are an important part of this plan. But, GENOM's agenda is threatened by Scylia Stingray. Daughter of one of the originals scientists that created the Boomer technology, she'd asembled a vigilante team known as the Knight Sabers, who fight the Boomers with the "aid' of the AD Police. |
| Comments | I was aware of Bubblegum Crisis' existence for a long time, but never felt interest in the series.... until one day, when a friend and I visited a branch of Electronic Boutique. There I'd spotted the DVD-ROM set containing all the eight (8) OVAs, PLUS music videos. What caught my attention was the price tage: from $44.99 it was reduced to $19.99!!! The curious thing was that I didn't have a DVD player back then, but my friend did SO I'd decided to bought it and see it at my friend's player while I get mine! This also motivated me to get a DVD player of my own! About the anime, in a word: IT'S GREAT!!!!!! The animation, the plot, the mecha. verything is great! What a way to get on the Knight Sabers, he? By the way, BGC is highly influenced by Blade Runner, a live-action movie, starring Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), that deals about intelligent robots disguised as humans and BGC is filled with references to that movie.
