Peter b ca 1827 and Maria NIELSEN b ca 1829 came from Denmark in 1869. Their emigration papers state that they were from Ringsted and were going to Owatonna, Minnesota. They were accompanied by their daughters Mathilde and Ida.
Mathilde was 9 years old for their journey and Ida was 8. In the 1880 census I found Mathilde married to Walter HITCHMAN in the Dakotas. The name was misspelled as Hiktman but they are there with their new son Albert. Click Here for descendants of Albert.
When the Hitchmans removed to Oregon in about 1903, Grandpa Peter and Grandma Mary (Maria) went with them and are buried in Oregon.
We have not been able to determine what became of Ida.
We are constantly looking for her and would appreciate hearing from anyone who can shed some light on our Nelsons.
