To whom it may concern:
I am applying for the RN Charge Nurse position on 3West full time 32 hours/week, to work Monday thru Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. It is my understanding that 32 hours does qualify me as a full time employee. I cannot work Fridays due to a prior personal committment. After speaking with Jennifer Kelly, ADON, I was made aware that full time hours include paid vacation, sick and holiday time, health insurance, and the rest of the benefit package offered to Ravenwood employees.
I am asking for a salary raise to $32.00/hour. It is my understanding that the base rate offered to the other Registered Nurses in this position is $29.00/hour, and those nurses applying with experience would be offered a salary above that base rate. I am a long standing Ravenwood Nursing Employee since 1992, working most of that time in a full time capacity, both as a Charge Nurse, and as a Nursing Supervisor. I have been a Registered Nurse since 1971.
It was only this past year where I worked part time in this facility in the flex pool.
It is also my understanding after speaking with Ms. Kelly, ADON, that once hired as a full time employee, if I were to work ANY weekend shift hours, above my regular workdays of Monday thru Thursday, (and after I meet 40 hours/week), that those weekend hours would be paid at time and 1/2 rate plus $3.00/hour shift bonus.
At the present time I have been working and filling in as the Nursing Supervisor on the weekends until the position is filled with a permanent employee. It was explained to me why the position could not be offered to me at this time by Ms. Kelly. However, based upon my conversation with her, I am asking that when this new person is hired, that an performance evaluation addendum be placed in my personnel file, specifically stating that I did temporarily cover this position from October 27, 2002 thru whatever date, and, that the previous problems that caused me to lose this position a year ago were not repeated, that I did in fact perform the duties of the Nursing Supervisor's position satisfactorily, under close supervision and observation from administrative personnel.
I will await to hear your response and I am available at your convenience to meet with you in person any day except Fridays.
Sincerely yours,
Nancy J. Boulette, RN
