WHAT IS A CHOW -CHOW

As you may have known there has been lots of rumors and storiesabout the chow like that chows are mean and like to bite, well that is not all true they are not. let me take a few minutes and give you a brief rundown on the chow This ancient chinese breed was originally used for hunting herding and the proction of homes the ChowChow is not vicious or aggerssive, but the possessive nature most allways is understood This dog has limited peripheral vision and need to be approached with in it;s scoope to prevent him or her from being starlted, they have a keen intelligence and independant spirt with dignity. it is a chows nature to be decering with strangers but ther loylity and devotion to family is unparalleled. the chows are wonderful companions for kids and children who love them and take care of them properly.The GENERAL APPEARINCE of a chow is An active, compact, short-coupled and well ballenced dog, well knit in frame, with there black / blue toung, with there tail carried well over the back. some CHARACTERISTICS being a well ballenced dog , leoning in appearince, witha proud dignified bearing; loyal yet aloof. there HEAD & SKULL flat and broad with little stop well filled out under the eye. there MUZZLE moderate in length broad from the eyes to the point (not like a fox though) there NOSE is almost always black ,large and wide EYES dark small and almond shaped. there EARS are small thick slightly rounded at the tip. carried stiffly erect but well placed forword over the eyes and wide apart in witch that gives them the schowl look. MOUTH and toung,flews,roof and the gums are alway blue /black. the NECK is strong full well set on the shoulders and slightly arched. there BODY is broad chestand deep back short straight and strong with powerful loins. FORQUARTERS are muscular and sloping forlegs moderate length good bone and perfectly straight HINDQUARTERS hindlegs muscular and hock well let down the FEET small round catlike standing well on there toes. there COAT is like abundant, dence straight and stand off. outer coar is rather coarse in texure and with a soft woolly undercoat. the chows come in 5 different COLORS ranging in red's, blue's black's cream's witch all verrys in different shades from light to dark. but Please don't buy a chow puppy just because of its looks, if you are not fit or ready for one. Because the chows do require grooming and a lot of play time and with their energy they need room to run and play but they are also just as calm too when there in doors.
