I nodded and put the hair dryer down and brushed my now dry hair. I pulled on a skin tight white wife-beater - one of Elisa's shirts - and an open, pale blue shirt. I pulled on my khaki pants and some blue Nike's. then I walked downstairs without bothering to put on makeup. Rick had always told me that I didn't need it, Elisa too. She said that I shouldn't wear any unless I was ugly, which I wasn't. my long brown hair matched the soft brown, sort of hazel, eyes perfectly and I had a clear complexion.
I walked into the living room and saw Brian sitting on the couch, looking at some pictures. As he gazed at Mikey's smiling face, his eyes softened and he smiled slightly.
"He was only three months old in that picture." I said.
Brian jumped slightly and turned and glanced at me. He did a double take at me. His eyes widened as he stared at my breasts. Normal man. Then a small blush covered his face and he looked into my eyes. "He's cute."
I nodded and walked towards him, my heart beat racing. I touch the picture and tears form in my eyes. Elisa took that picture three months ago. It showed Mikey and I on his three month birthday. I was sitting on the couch with my knee up by my chin and my other leg curled underneath the first. Mikey was sitting in my lap, his little hand wrapped around my index finger. My long hair was falling down around my shoulders. We both looked so happy. The tears trailed down my face.
Brian took me into his arms and held me tight. "Lizzie, we're going to get him back for you."
Sobs racked my body as I clung to him. "He's just a little baby."
Brian rubbed my back. "I know, baby, I know."
I looked at him. Had he just called me baby? Or was I imagining things? Could it be that he was attracted to me just as I was attracted to him?
He gazed into my eyes and slowly leaned down. I met him halfway and we kissed softly. Waves of longing and passion washed over me. My knees got weak and I had to lean into him for support. How could one single kiss be so wonderful?
As he began to deepen the kiss, my phone rang. We pulled apart like children who had just been caught stealing cookies. I grabbed up the phone. "Hello?"
"Lizzie?" it was Eli. "Bad news, we can't find anything on Rick. He just suddenly vanished."
"No!" I gasp and have to lean against Brian for support. His strong arms hold me up.
"We're working on it, sissy…" Elisa said.
"Thanks…" I mumbled and hung up. My poor baby. Brian looked at me and I started to cry again. Brian pulled me tighter into his embrace and kissed the top of my head.
"Don't worry, baby, we'll get Mikey back."
