Chapter 4

I picked up my drum sticks and was about to practice my big drum solo when my phone rang. I leaned over and picked up the phone.

"Yo, Carter answering service, Nick speaking."

I heard an anything-but-amused sigh. "Nick, don't act like such a dork."

I sighed. "Aaron, don't be such a dick!"

Aaron sighed. "Shut up, butt wad. I'm supposed to tell you that Angel and me are helping Brian out, alright? Bye." The line went dead.

I crossed my eyes at the phone and sighed. Annoying little kids. I stood and walked into the hallway. As I passed by a closed door, my eyes locked onto the picture on the door. A sigh escaped my lips. Mandy. She had yet to come and get all of her stuff out of the room. We had broken up a month ago but I still missed her. I had really loved her. But now she was off somewhere with someone new. God I missed her.

I sighed and walked into the kitchen, making a sandwich.

"Damn you, Mandy. I hope you're as miserable as I am…" but I knew she wasn't. that was why she had left me, that and the fact that she said I had no time for her. I had no idea where she got that idea from.

Suddenly, I was bored and wanted to get out of the house. I decided to go to the daycare and hang with Brian and the twins. As I drove up, I saw a girl with short hair walking inside, talking with Brian. I decided to go for ice cream before going inside.

As I pulled into the ice cream shop, I saw a man walking to his car in the hotel parking lot across the street. He had blond hair and blue eyes and was holding a crying baby. The baby was wrapped in a blue blanket and had golden hair. I grinned. Poor kid looked pissed off.

"Sir, can I help you?"

I turned back to the clerk. "Oh yeah."
