Chapter 13

I opened my eyes and was greeted by darkness. My hand was clutching someone else's tightly. After a moment, my eyes adjusted to the darkness and I saw that I was holding Brian's hand. Then I looked at his face and saw that he was sleeping. I looked at the clock: 3:30.

I tried to sit up without waking him but failed. He started and then his eyes focused on me. He smiled.

"What time is it?"

"3:30…" I said softly.

Brian rubbed his eyes and I smiled. He looked so cute. His blue eyes focused on me and then he was kissing me, kissing me with more passion than I'd ever experienced. I didn't know what to do so I finally just gave into the temptation and loved every minute of it.

Our lips danced together to a silent dance that only our hearts could hear. My heart was pounding about a million miles per second. All that I could do was go with the flow and feel breathless.

Suddenly I lost track of any time or anything. The next thing I knew, we were making love on my living room couch. When I went to cry out, I kissed him and his mouth muffled my cry. When our breathing returned to normal, I stiffened. What had I done?

I sat up fast and pulled on my clothes.

"Lisa?" Brian asked softly, looking confused. His hair was messy and in his eyes. "What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?"

I looked at him and shook my head. "I can't do this, not with my baby missing. I-I'm sorry." Then I stood and hurried upstairs to my room.

I felt guilty about Brian, I had wanted to make love as much as he had. But yet, now I was brushing him off. 'Oh, Brian, I'm so sorry…'

The next morning, I woke to the sound of laughter. It sounded like Aaron, Angel, and Elisa, plus one more person, maybe two. Was Brian awake? As I stood and pulled on my short, tight-at-the-top sundress, I wondered how to act around Brian. How do you act around a man that you had just slept with?

I brushed my hair and walked downstairs. Brian was sitting on the couch, laughing. Angel and Elisa were sitting on the couch, both giggling. Aaron was on the floor with the tall blond guy from yesterday. They were playing my old Playstation. It was a racing game, 'Crash Team Racing', and Aaron kept leaving bombs for the other guy to hit.

When I walked in, everyone looked up. Brian's eyes softened but I refused to make eye contact with him. I sat on the floor in front of Elisa and Angel's couch.

"Morning, Lizzie." Aaron said.

"Morning, Aaron." I said softly.

"This is my big brother, Nick." He pointed to the tall guy.

Nick smiled and offered his hand. "Hey."

I took his hand and returned the smile. "Hey." Looking at the clock, I saw that it was almost noon. My phone rang. I snatched it up. "Hello?"

"Hey, babe."

I gasped, gripping the phone so tight that my knuckles turned white. "Rick!" everyone's eyes focused on me but I avoided Brian's. "Where's Mikey?"

Rick cleared his throat. "With me."

"Bring him home, please."

"No."

"Why did you call?" I asked desperately.

"I wanted to hear the panic in your voice. Bye." The line went dead, but only after I caught the sound of Mikey's cries. He hadn't stayed on the line long enough to be able to trace the call, either. I sobbed as I hung up.

"What's wrong?" Eli asked.

"It was Rick… I heard Mikey crying." I sobbed, looking at her. Angel climbed into my lap and looked up at me with trusting eyes. Aaron sat beside me protectively. I could feel Brian's eyes on me but instead of looking at him, I looked at the kids.

"We're going to get Mikey back, Lisa." Aaron swore softly.

I couldn't help but smile. "Thank you, Aaron…"

"Call me AC."

Nick raised his eyebrows. "Ooh, I think Aaron's got a crush!"

Aaron blushed, "So do you."

"Not on Lisa."

"No one ever said it was Lisa." Aaron said.

Nick's eyes widened and he blushed. Quickly, he turned back to his game. "Damn kid's been hanging around AJ too long."

Brian chuckled softly. I smiled at Aaron. "So what if he's got a crush? I think he's cute." I had to laugh at the look in his eyes.

He winked, "You're pretty hot yourself."

This only made Brian laugh harder. "That's an 'AJ-line' alright!"

I ignored Brian and laughed at Aaron's blush. "Shut up!"

Angel giggled. "Aaron likes Lizzie!"

"Do not!"

I laughed and stood, wiping the last of my tears away. "I'm hungry." I walked into the kitchen, smiling at the sound of Aaron and Angel's arguing.
