Chapter Five

The next month passed quickly. Lisa and Nick grew very, very close, almost inseparable. They did everything together, Lisa was the happiest she'd ever been in her life.

"Nicky, where are you taking me?" Lisa asked, looking over at her blond boyfriend.

Nick looked at her and grinned. "It's a surprise, sweetness."

Lisa rolled her eyes and leaned back in the car seat and looked out the window. She was going home in two weeks and she was miserable about it. Now that she had given Nick a chance, she never wanted to leave him.

Nick reached one hand over and touched her face. "What's my girl thinking about?"

Lisa looked at him, "How I don't want to go home."

Nick frowned, "Love, I want you to stay too but… I'm sure your family misses you. I know I would after three long months." He smiled, "Baby, I have a question for you."

"What is it?"

"How does the sun shine without you in Ohio?"

Lisa laughed softly, "I'm not sure, Hunny."

Nick grinned and pulled into a parking lot and turned to her. "Well, baby, you've always wanted to see Chris Rock live. Today's your lucky day."

Lisa's eyes widened, "Nick! Are you for serious?"

He nodded, "Have I ever lied to you, BabyLove?"

"No…" she threw her arms around Nick's neck. "Thank you so much, baby!"

Nick laughed and kissed her tenderly. Then he climbed from the car and pulled Lisa out after him and then into his arms. "Let's go."

They walked inside together and sat right in front of the stage. Lisa watched with tears of laughter in her eyes throughout the whole show. On his way out, Chris actually kissed her cheek. Then he winked at her and walked backstage. Lisa looked at Nick who was shooting daggers into Chris' back.

"Aww, Nicky C jealous?" Lisa asked teasingly.

Nick looked at her and smiled, "Yeah, so? Come on, BabyLove, let's go."

They walked back out to Nick's car. Before getting in, Lisa leaned against the car and looked up at the moon. Nick leaned beside her and slipped his arm around her shoulders.

"What's wrong, sweetness?"

Lisa looked at him, "Hunny, I don't want to leave without fully loving you." He stared at her. "Yes, I mean that I want to make love with you."

Nick's eyes widened, "A-are you for serious?"

Lisa laughed at him ,"Yes. unless you don't want to…"

Nick turned to her fast, "No! of course I do!" he leaned in and kissed her, pushing her back into the car. "Oh, baby."

Lisa kissed him with passion. "Let's go to your place."

They got in the car and Nick drove them to his house. He pulled into the driveway and parked. Then they went up to his room and resumed their kissing.

Lisa lost count of how many times they made love that night. All she knew was that it was the greatest night of her life and she never wanted it to end.

After they had made love for the last time, Nick held Lisa in his arms and looked into her eyes.

"BabyLove, from the moment I first saw you I knew that I would make you mine."

Lisa pulled away from him and stared into his eyes. "W-what?"

Nick frowned, "Sweetness, not again! Don't tell me you're pissed again!"

"Hell yeah I am! Damn you Nick!" she slapped him in the face and dressed quickly before running out of the house without looking back.

Once she arrived at her Aunt and Uncle's home, she was sobbing. She ran inside and slammed the door shut. Mary and Eric ran into her.

"Lisa! What's wrong?"

Lisa sobbed, "We broke up." Then she ran upstairs and into her room, slamming the door and looking at the picture Brian had taken of them. It had been taken a week ago. She screamed and threw the picture, shattering the case. She never wanted to see Nick Carter again.

For the last two weeks in California, Lisa moped around and never left the house. Sammy and the others felt bad for her but didn't mention 'his' name after that day. Lisa didn't eat for a week and lost even more weight. She was just plain unhappy. All she wanted was to go home and forget that anything had ever happened between Nickolas Gene Carter and herself. Maybe she would even sell her CD's.

On the last day in California, Lisa went for a short walk. She went to the park and to the swing where she had given into Nick and finally told him yes. tears fell as she sat down. She'd never forget him. But she would try to forget their time together.

On her way home, Lisa could swear that she saw him in a car with Brian but she ignored the car when the driver honked. Instead, she ran home and waited for Mary to get the car keys.

At the airport, Sammy had sobbed.

"Lisa, don't go!" she cried.

Lisa's own tears fell, "Hunny, I have to. I don't belong here. I belong in Fremont Ohio."

After saying good bye to everyone, Eric smiled. "You're welcome to come back whenever, sweetie."

Mary nodded, "We'll never tell your mom about you and Nick either." Then she hugged Lisa and Lisa smiled and boarded her plane. She could swear that she saw Nick standing back in the distance, beside the gift shop where they had first met. She ignored him and ran down the tunnel.

Once on the plane, Lisa let go of her tears. She was going home. She never had to think of Nick Carter and Fall Brooke California again.
