Jordan Zed was 4 years old when he began taking keyboard and rhythm lessons at the Yamaha Piano Studio. At 6, he began composing for piano. In Elementary School, he sang with Saint John's Rotary Boys' Choir, under the direction of Kevin Langford. In his last performance as a boy soprano, he sang Andrew Lloyd Weber's PIE Jesu with another young musician. Jordan's pure soprano voice had, 'overnight', deepened to a rich baritone.
His passion for music continued throughout school and into university. He spent a couple of summers at the prestigious Tanglewood and one in Aspen, winning a silver medal at the Ludmilla Knezkova-Hussey International Piano Competition.
Jordan has performed in Toronto, Fredericton, Boston, and at Saint John's Imperial Theatre. The classical background bodes him well; it sets him apart as a recording pop artist, giving his music a unique depth and power few artists achieve, especially at such a young age.
Also, during his early teens, Jordan studied and performed on the alto sax, learning improvisation with Saint John's "Jazz Connection".He became interested in writing for other instruments in addition to voice and piano. But it was only recently that he began writing and arranging all the other parts in his own songs.
Last summer, he studied with Berklee graduate/drummer, Marc Cyr - culminating in Jordan's first mini-CD...
Jordan is the winner of the Jack Maher Award selected by Berklee's Professional Writing Division (for outstanding contributions in Songwriting, Arranging, Performance & Production).
JORDAN ZED is doing it all now- singing, (he's terrific; if you haven't heard him do yourself a favor and go listen to the clips on his official home page) writing, arranging and performing his own music!
This is his passion. Apparently smoldering beneath the surface all the while.
And now he wants to share it with you.
