******************************************************************** MAPPING TOOL FOR ASTRONOMERS? Using the orientation of the galaxies to help map the universe? If the orientation of galaxies were recorded, would they be random? To determine this it would help to have an orientation system. Suppose the galaxy tilted toward earth, with its top closer to us and no left or right tilt. The galaxy would then appear to spiral either clockwise or counterclockwise within its oval if it spiraled at all. We could assign an arbitrary orientation to get relative relationships. Being homocentric we could use our galaxy as the reference. Using a right hand rule, kind of like the magnetic fields, we could say it pointed sort of upwards if it spiraled clockwise , as fingers sort of spiral in clockwise toward the right hand with the thumb pointing up. And we could arbitrarily say that it pointed sort of downward if it spiraled in counterclockwise. The orientation would be compared to the reference. Mirror images of positions could hopefully be resolved by using the obscuring effect of galactic dust to help pick the correct orientation. That is, the section of the galaxy further away would be more obscured. Even if exact orientation couldn't be found perhaps some of the possibilities could be eliminated. I suspect that the orientations would not be random, but I am not sure how they would show up. I sort of suspect there might be two dimensional effects of some sort. Queeks,I heard the Big Bang theory is suspected of having some inconsistencies.
I'll do the thinnin here, Boobs.
And the red shift may be misinterpreted too, Queeks. Word is that the rumblings may erupt in about a year. (Ed. note: written in fall '97)
That"ll be enuff, Boobs.
(Ed. note: Already the time table for the expansion has been shifting) *********************************************************************** To go to the main page: (MAIN PAGE) For more information E-mail me at fordy5@hotmail.com
