Welcome to the program. I'm Montri Tangpijaikul. It is my pleasure to be a moderator for this session on "How to Read the Bible as Literature." First of all, may I briefly introduce to you all our guest speaker from Korea. He graduated with a bachelor's, a master's and a doctoral degree in English Literature from Krung Hee University in Seoul. He also a master's degree of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology at Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Presently, he is studying for a Ph.D. in the area of Theology at Evangelical Theological College of Wales in the United Kingdom. From 1984 to 1986, he was a visiting professor at State University of New York. From 1989 to 1993, he was the dean of the main library at Jeonju University in Korea. From 1993 to 1995, he was the dean of College of Humanities at Jeonju University. From 1995 to 1996, he was an exchange professor at University of Yangon, Union of Myanmar. From 1998 to 1999, he was a visiting professor at University of Edinburgh, Scotland. And, from 1993 till present, he has been a professor of English Literature at Jeonju University. Some of his significant publications include "Backgrounds of European Literature", "How to Read the Bible as Literature", and "Literature Through the Eyes of Faith" Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Dr. Seung Soo Kim. First of all, may I request the president of the Christian University, Dr. Janjira Wongkhomthong, to kindly give an opening speech. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you all our guest speaker from the Philippines. He graduated with a bachelor's of Divinity from Silliman Divinity School in 1974, a master's of Theology in 1978 and a doctor's of Theology in 1990 both from South East Asia Graduate School of Theology. He used to be the dean of Divinity School at Silliman University. He is now an Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Silliman University Divinity School and also the chairperson of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines General Assembly.
