THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
IS THE
HOLY COVENANT OF GOD!

Exodus 20:1-17

And God spoke all these words, saying:

* 1. I am the Lord Your God, which have brought you out of the land of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

* 2. You shall not make unto you any GRAVEN IMAGE, of any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shall not bow yourself down to them, or serve them. For I the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children into the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and Keep My Commandments !

* 3. You shall not take the NAME of the LORD in vain, for The LORD will not hold him guitless that takes His Name in Vain.

* 4. Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it Holy. Six days shall you labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of The Lord your God. In it you shall not do any work, or your son, or your daughter, or your man servent, or your maid servent, or your cattle, or your stranger that is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made Heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is within them, and rested on the seventh day. For the LORD has blessed the Sabbath day and and hallowed it!

* 5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the earth!

* 6. You shall not kill!

* 7. You shall not commit adultery!

* 8. You shall not steal!

* 9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor!

* 10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his man servent, or his maid servent, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's!

And all the people saw the thundering, and the lightning, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they removed and stood far off. They said to Moses, "You speak to us, and we will hear you. But let not God speak with us lest we die." And Moses said to the people " Fear not, for God is come to prove you, and that His fear may be before your faces, that you do not sin."

Bible Study Sermon Notes About the Ten Commandments

1.You shall have no other gods before Me.

Notes: Having no other gods in our lives. If we totally forget God in our lives, and become so envolve in the world we no longer have time to seek Him in prayer, or read the Bible, or attend Church. We have forgotten Him and allowed the things of this world to become the god in our life. Having a lust of money in your heart is called serving the god of Mammom in the Bible. Luke 16:9-11. Another deception we have in this USA is asking favors from another god, named Santa Claus instead of asking for what we need in our life from Jesus. TV can also become the most important thing in our life that again we forget Heavenly Father God in Heaven, thus causing it to be a god of the world. Not an idol!!

2. Graven Images - Again the Dictionary says the word graven images in the dictonary means = "a figure of a person or object usually representing an idol carved in stone, wood, braze, bronze, or ceramic. Another word for standing statues figures." This is stone carved idols statues. Everywhere in the whole world there is statues of people that died, and their memory remains in a statue, dead men's memory from under the earth. What about those cute angel statues ! No those are items in HEAVEN ! What about Jesus statues ! No ! That too is an abomination and breaking the Ten Commandments ! God destroyed His people the Jews in the Old Testament every time they brought in an idol statue, either death or captivity.

Look up in the Bible dictionaries under graven images to get a full true meaning of the word. Shocking isn't it ! Statues that have no ears to hear, but just there for decorations. Any wonder how Babylon has infested the whole world into partaking of her sins ? The idol graven images statues ! Our family got rid of and smashed every one that we found in our home over 12 years ago. We would rather fear God, and make our lives pleasing to His sight.

Excuses : "Well I have one of these statues in my home but I don't bow down and worship it."

You need to underline in your bible that list the Ten Commandments the word "WORSHIP". The word worship in the Dictionary means: to adore or admire, to giving respect unto an god or object. But in the Bible Dictionary it means different from the World dictonary as to Worship The Lord God of Host, and Jesus only. To praise,adore, and sing to Him. So if we are dusting these statues every week, and we say "gee I admire this". We are worshipping in the way of the world. To admire a statue is an abomination to God. Be not deceived!

Did you know that every single time in the Old Testament that the Jews set up a standing graven image statue, the Lord of Hosts raised up another prophet to warn them of danger of the wrath of God. That He would send them away to become slaves in captivity of their enemies. There are many warnings given to them not to marry a wife that is into statue graven image worship. That sooner or later, that statue would cause the Jews to forget The Lord of Hosts In Heaven.

Excuses : " Well now I didn't make the graven image statue, so I'm not affected!"
The Bible says not to put up any graven image up in your land.

The Bible Says in :

Lev 26:1 "Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, NEITHER REAR YOU UP A STANDING IMAGE, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God."

Many times we have those statues of Jesus in many areas of our Churches, homes, or even in cemeteries. If a little girl asked you what is that? As she pointed to that statue. What would your reply be? Thats Jesus. And if you turn your back and the little girl doesn't understand that that is not really Jesus, she might just start talking to it. In horror we have seen this situation happen before. Some just don't know any better!!

Lets look at what happen to one Church that put up a graven image statue. (Mary in the Catholic Church Statue). Since this Church put up a graven statue, they got farther and father from the ways of Jesus, had said in His Bible Words.

3. Take Not the name of the Lord in vain! - We live in a world that uses a lot of foul langauge. We hear it on TV, movies, in public places, in some of the people we know say The name of our Savior in vain. Must be for them when something goes wrong they say the name of our Savior. JESUS! Are they blaming him for everything that goes wrong. Some use the word "GOD", then add a foul langauge of "damn". Put the two words together and it sounds like they are cursing GOD for their problems. THIS IS A GREAT SIN. These people with foul laugauge are breaking the very commandment of GOD IN HEAVEN. Now before we all came to accept Jesus as our Savior, we are all found with foul laugauge in our mouths. But Jesus beguns to work on our minds and hearts to change us to not use foul words anymore. But some of us, still need to ask for Jesus help, to not Take the name of the Lord in Vain.

The Bible Says Jesus told us in :

Matthew 12:34-36 " O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speakes. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give have to give account of in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

4. Remember the Sabbath Day. Six days you shall work but on the seventh day you must rest. There are alot of Christian Churches out there that say "we have no Sabbath Day, but we rest in Jesus from our labors." Do you honestly admit that you want to work 365 days a year without resting? Do you think your body can take that much work? Did The Bible ever change this commandment and blot it out?? Our Heavenly Father in Heaven demands that we take ONE day a week to rest IN HIM. This is a great way to spend time with the family and get into Bible reading, praying together, and singing together. Spend the day without doing chores, take that break from work, and spend it Thanking Our Heavenly Father for this day of rest.

The Bible Says in :

Exodus 31:12-16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, "Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations. That ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is Holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual Covenant."

Now the next question is which day is the Sabbath? Some say it is on Saturday, some say it is on Sunday. Which calendar are you on? If you notice the calendar on your wall in your kitchen or office. Sunday is the first day of the week and Saturday falls on the last day of the week. But the ways of the world we know is the kids start school on Monday which is the first day of the week and Sunday falls on the last day of the week. What about the Jews are on a different calendar too. They use their days of the week as numbers 1-7 rest on seventh day, 8-14 rest on the 14th day. What about different foreign countries, some are on a different calendar too. So which one of these calendars are correct? ALL OF THEM are correct! NO WHERE FOUND IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY THAT THE SABBATH FALLS ON SATURDAY. But we can find the scripture that the Sabbath falls on the 7th Day which we are to rest in Him. The only way to find the truths is ASK JESUS IN PRAYER TO SEND THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GUIDE YOU UNTO ALL HIS TRUTHS. And he will tell you what day to keep a Sabbath Day Holy.

For those of you among the Christian Churches that are preaching from the book "National Sunday Law" Seventh Day Adventist Church. That says that the Geneva Treaty, caused USA to change and demand that all Christians must change the Sabbath to Saturday. This was only the Roman Catholic Church that demanded this. ALL CHRISTIAN CHURCHES around you NEVER NEVER preached that the Sabbath must be changed to Sunday. NONE OF THEM. They are not accepting the mark of the beast by going to Church on Sunday. Be not deceived. The antichrist coming soon will make laws to break the entire ten commandment, not just only one. You may think that I'm in the right about the Sabbath day, but if your preaching that false deception that they are accepting the mark of the beast by going to Church on Sunday, then YOU ARE BARING FALSE WITTNES AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR! Which your focus has only been on the one Sabbath commandment, but satan got you deceived breaking another commandment in the Ten Commandments.

The Bible Says in :

Rev. 13:16 " And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads. "

Rev. 13:17 " And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

Rev. 14:9 " And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand. "

5. Honor Your Father and Mother -

The Bible Says in :

Exodus 20:12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Exodus 21:15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

Exodus 21:17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

Eph 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Proverbs 20:20" Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness. "

Notes: These three scriptures tells us that we are to honor which means respect our parents rules, to obey them and to love them. Never to hit them or say a curse word against them.

6.Thou shall not kill -

Strongs Concordance HEBREW the word for " Kill " is called in the Hebrew number 07523 ratsach {raw-tsakh'}

Which means premeditated murder. It should of been translated as Thou shall not be a murder.

What about in the Old Bible times of King David when Our Heavenly Father in Heaven, told the entire army of Israelites to go to war against the evil nations? What would they said.."BUT GOD I can't go to war, because your commandments told me do not kill!" This statement to God would be a big punishment for disobeying His direct instructions. King Saul found this out the hard way. God told him to go to war and make sure not one Amalekites remained alive, nor the goods of them. By disobeying The Lord of Hosts in Heaven and kept the Amalekites king alive and their animals, King Saul disobeyed God. Thus he lost his kingdom that The Lord of Hosts gave him. This was his punishment.

King David in the Bible went out to war, and learned from the lesson of Saul. He obeyed the Lord of Hosts very instructions concerning war. But later on King David later fell into sin by plotting the murder of Bathseba's husband, so that he could marry her himself. By plotting this murder David broke the commandment "Thou shall not kill"

In this nation USA many men and women join the military services, to protect the freedom of our country, and to keep the foreign enemies from hating and wanting to destroy our youth and elderly. The Heavenly Father in Heaven says to obey the laws set forth in our land. In Operation Dessert Storm a few years ago, The Heavenly Father in Heaven rounded up a might army to go to war against the king of Babylon. Thus filfulling the prophecy in Jeremiah Chapters 50 - 51. In His very words he has said in Jeremiah Chapter 50 that He himself will gather the armies of many nations and send them to war against Babylon, IRAQ. The very country that is the location of old desolate city of ancient Babylon. IRAQ built a new modern city called Bagdad from the foundation plans of what old Babylon use to be. Saddam even wrote his name on the Old Babylon wall under the old King of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar, thus fulfilling the prophecy of Jeremiah Chapter 50. DO YOUR HISTORY ON BABYLON!!!

The Bible says that Jesus told us in:

Matthew 5:22 " But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. "

The word "Raca" is translated "Stupid". So we are in big trouble if we call someone, a fool or stupid. If we are angry with another person, thinking hatefull thoughts, Jesus says it is the same thing as thinking murder. And thinking evil hatefull thoughts are breaking this very commandment.. Thou shall not be a murder. Thou shall not kill.

7. Thou shall not commit adultery -

In the ways of the world.. TV and movies show many lustful scenes of emotions for sex outside of marriage. Many Movies show the pleasure of if your not satisfied with your marriage spouse, go find a one night stand. Or two people that just met, don't even know each other, end up under the covers for a moment pleasure. But when morning comes.. each person has to pay the price of their sins and face the problems causes by this adultery act. Did you know that not only aids are transmitted by sex, but also unclean spirits which another word for that is demons can also be transmitted by sex. Among many other deadly diseases.

This is why Our Heavenly Father In Heaven put this commandment here for our protection so that our bodies could be kept pure in soul and also in good health.

Many marriages and kids are hurt very bad, by breakups of cheating partners that yield to the temptation of the devils snares. Unwed teen youth, become mothers, and go murder a child in abortion, so that no one will know of their sins. But deep down in their soul their hearts break for a lifetime, missing that very special baby, a part of their flesh. If they don't repent and confess their sins to Jesus in prayer then they will have to stand before God at Judgment day and face the price of their acts.

What about petting on dates or lusting passions without sex? Is this wrong or right?

In The Bible Jesus told us:

Matthew 5:27-28 "You have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery. But I say to you, That who so ever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart."

In this world now days.. There are many different types of sexual sins that the Bible commands these are all forbidden for us, not to do. They are:

The Bible says that those that do these things, WILL NEVER GET INTO HEAVEN!

8. Thou shall not steal -

Last year in USA the TV documentary DATELINE told us their is in USA alone reports Company Business losses of over 3 million dollars from employees that steal company equipment. From pencils, toilet paper, company items in storage are taken from employers. On top of that thousands are getting arrested for shoplifting in stores. And if you think that bad enough to face in our nation, even so called friends you thought wouldn't steal from you, are stealing from you. Even teens and kids steal money from their parents wallet to buy the drugs that they think they need to survive. All these people when caught, will have to go to jail for the crimes they committed. Spending time in jail can ruin your life and the life of your family too.

All these people think in their hearts. "I will be careful and won't get caught." But sooner or later everyone secret sin will be exposed. On top of that some are not aware, that The Heavenly Father in Heaven knows all and sees all. There is nothing in your life that you can hide from HIM. Every sin you commit in secret, you will have to face at Judgment day in Heaven. The only one that can save you from the wrath of GOD IN HEAVEN, is Jesus Christ his son.

9. Thou shall not bare false witness against your neighbor. - In court when a witness is called to testify in a case. The bailiff says " Do you promise to tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you GOD." Here in a solemn oath these people has promised, saying "I WILL NOT LIE". This is only one example of NOT Being a false witness against your neighbor.

The second example of when someone wants a promote at a job, and starts a false rumor of bad, untrue gossip to make another look bad, so that this person will lose the promotion. Thus trying to gain success by baring false witness against their neighbor.

The third example is when we talk against another Christian Church, gossiping about what bad stuff they do, that you hear from another gossiper talebearer.

The word "gossip" in the dictionary means to talk bad about another. To slander another persons name. Back biting someone by talking behind their back. Gossip also means a town talebearer which seeks to destroy anothers name. Gossip can mean that is can be true of someone or that it could also be lies. Gossip also means to bare false witness against your neighbor.

But the gossiper says.. "OH BUT IT TRUE.. I heard it from another person." Don't you know that in the Bible it says that if we speak one bad word against another that there is no eternal life in those that do such evil deeds. Whether gossip is true or not. Our God in Heaven demands that we speak not one bad thing against another person. There are hundreds of Bible Scriptures on slander and back biting. Be not deceived! Look up the Scriptures for yourself.

The Bible Says in :

Ephesians 4: 25-32 "Wherefore putting away lying, speaking every man truth with his neightbor, for we are members of one another. Be not angry, and sin not. Let not the sun do down upon your wrath. Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole, steal no more, but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give him that is in needs. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to those that hears. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, where you are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger and clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. And you be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God, for Christ sake has forgiven you. "

Romans 3:10-19 " As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable.
There is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips.
Destruction and misery are in their ways.
And the way of peace have they not known
There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Now we know that what things the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

10. Thou shall not covet -
The word covet means jealous wanting something that belongs to someone else that is not yours.

There are many Scriptures in the Bible that describes covetous as:

Lusting after an object, defrauding another for gain, bribing for evil gain, deceitful cheating of wages of another, holding back tithe to God, dealing falsely with another, greed. Jealous wanting something that belongs to a neighbor that creates anger in the heart when you can't have it. A word we are all familiar with is a term called "keeping up with the Jones family." Whatever that rich neighbor has .. I want it for myself. JEALOUS out of control can lead to sinful lust inside the heart.

A FINAL WORD ABOUT THE HOLY COVENANT. READ ALL OF BIBLE BOOK OF LEVITICUS CHAPTER 26. TO THOSE THAT OBEY THE HOLY COVENANT MANY PROMISES FROM GOD. TO THOSE THAT DISOBEY THE COVENANT OF GOD... GOD IN HIS WRATH POURS OUT UNPON THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE .
