Netiquette – World Wide Web

  • Forward a simple e-mail message to the author if you are making a link to their site
  • Authors are responsible for what they allow users worldwide to access

Netiquette in Mailing Lists, Discussion Groups:

  • Monitor the List for a few days before posting your comments
  • Check FAQ for similar question
  • Follow the “local” netiquette
  • Post relevant comments
  • Do not prolong irrelevant discussion
  • Be mindful of the members’ backgrounds
  • Administrative tasks e.g. unsubscribe from the List should be sent to the right area

In FTP Sites:

  • Users are responsible to check for copyright or licensing agreements when downloading materials from FTP sites
  • Pay the authors’ registration fee of required
  • Remove unwanted programs from your systems
  • It’s the user’s responsibility to check for copyright or licensing agreements. On many occasions, copyrighted software found its way into FTP archives.
