    • Subject guides
      • e.g. links to related sites, maintained by subject specialists
    • Reference works
      • e.g. dictionaries
    • Specialized databases
      • e.g. financial data
    Virtual libraries may contain subject guides, reference works and specialized databases. Subject guides refer to web resources that include hyperlinks to sites on that particular subject. These guides are maintained by people who are knowledgeable about the subjects covered. Reference works are full-text documents, for example, dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, etc. Specialized databases refer to journal article citations, financial data, etc.
