The Knight trains not only to follow the Code
but to learn to live at a level different from most
and demonstrating distinct courage and strength.
A Knight must learn to view situations always
with tolerance, understanding, compassion and tact
while maintaining integrity and honor to themselves
and to their Realm.
A situation that would raise the ire of most,
must in a Knight bring forth a tactfulness
that shall demonstrate a broad perspective
in seeking balance and justice for all.
A Knight possesses a maturity beyond their years
These attributes do not temper the need for
heavy-handed or judgemental tactics but rather
a finesse, visible at all times
which shall bring about an acceptable conclusion to all
in the face of adversity.
A Knight learns that these virtues are most worthy
and often times welcome in dealing with any situation.
The greatest strength of a Knight is not in physical
prowess or the ability to cause physical harm,
but in their ability to defuse a situation
and win over their enemies to a commonly acceptable compromise
for both parties whenever possible.
Before a Squire was dubbed,
he did much in preparation
The watch, the night before his elevation to Knighthood
is known as the Vigil and is often attended by other
Knights of high reknown, who speak to the candidate
about what it means to be a Knight.
Prior to this night, his hair is cut and he bathes
for the sake of purity of soul and mind.
He has rested well, for one at rest is one in paradise
and no Knight shall ask for more than paradise.
The body has renewed itself with each hour of rest.
The Squire kneels by his armour praying and meditating
He prays all night without food or drink
When the sun rises, he will bathe, dress himself in
the tunic of red and shirt of white and make confession.
The white shirt symbolizes Peace, and the cleansing of sins.
The red tunic symbolizes that he would shed his own blood
for his God or Gods and live true to the Code.
