In the days of olde there was a clear difference between what was done in battle
(when winning was all that mattered) and how people behaved during duels and tournaments
(when they were often judged as much on their chivalry as their prowess). We must maintain
a chivalrous atmosphere at event and during court when un chivalrous behavior rapidly brings
us back to the real world.
It is the duty of knights to oversee the rooms of the realm, and knights shall respond to
guests about their dress or mannor of speach. Resedents shall not take it upon themselves
to tell any guest of the realm how to dress in the open room. If a guest will not respond
to a knight's IM request to alter avatar or language, the knight will announce to the room
to place the guest on ignore. ALL resedents will ignore a unwanted or unruly visitor.
If the situation should become dangerous, the knight shall ask the ladies to leave or seek
safe haven till the matter has been dealt with. A passworded, safe room is advised.
A true test of a Knight's skill is the peaceful resolution of problems
Fight with honor
Attack only the armed
Attack from the front only
Use a weapon, one the opponent equal to the attack
If thy opponent be thy better, give no quarter, show no fear
Defeat thine enemy
Make war against the infidel without cessation
Remain chivalrous even to the unchivalrous
Champion right
Recognize that the sword of justice
can be a terrible thing
so it must be tempered
by humanity and mercy
A Knight is sworn by oath
to defend his Liege
and those who depend upon him
Seek always to defend your nation, your family, and those to whom you believe worthy
of loyalty.
Being a Knight often means choosing
the more difficult path,
the personally expensive one
A Knight must have faith
in his beliefs
for faith roots him
and gives hope
against the despair
that human failings create
Value first
the contributions of others
Do not boast
of your own accomplishments
Tell the deeds of others
before your own
In this way
the Office of Knighthood
is well done and glorified
helping not only the gentle spoken of
but also all who call themselves
Knights - be they male or female
Be generous
in so far as your resources allow
Largesse used in this way
counters gluttony
It also makes the path of mercy
easier to discern
when a difficult decision of justice
is required
Seek great stature of character
by holding to the virtues
and duties of a Knight
and realizing that though the ideals
cannot be reached in all instances
the quality of striving towards them
ennables the spirit
growing the character
from dust towards the Heavens
Nobility also has the tendency to
influence others
offering a compelling example
of what can be done
in the service of rightness
A Knights word must have the validity
of a signed and witness oath.
Thus, give thy word sparingly,
but adhere to it like iron.
As a Knight, thou haste power, and thy powers
wax strongly as wisdom increases.
Therefore exercise discretion in the use thereof.
Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you choose to live by.
There are many places where compromise is expected; loyalty is not amongst them.
