This is the Hilton of Horse Camps.
Built and maintained by San Mateo Horsemen's Association, it has everything: Clean bathrooms with flush toilets; hot showers; a community kitchen with BBQ's and sink and tables and hot and cold running water. Electricity (you can plug in your toaster and coffee pot). A cabin with freezer and refrigerator. You can stay all week or as many nights as you wish. The cost to us is $10 per rig per night. There are pipe corrals and wash racks for the horses as well as beautiful trails in redwood forests.

Directions to the park: From Hayward, take the San Mateo Bridge (92), stay on 92 toward Half Moon Bay until you get to Skyline Blvd. Turn left on Skyline (35) approximately 13 miles to the town of Sky Londa. From Sky Londa, turn right on La Honda Rd toward the town of La Honda. 1/2 mile past LaHonda make a left on Pescadero Road. There is a sign for Sam McDonald County Park. The horsecamp is 3/4 mile past the park.

RULES AND ROAD CONDITIONS; The road into the horse camp from Pescadero Road is NARROW, one way in most places and has NO TURNOUTS. There is no room to pass another truck and trailer. For the safety of you and your horses, the following time restrictions are MANDATORY and are strictly enforced.

For all incoming traffic entering the horse camp. Drive in ON THE HOUR until "20 after the hour" Example 10:00 a.m. - 10:20 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. - 2:20 p.m.

For all outgoing traffic leaving the horse camp Drive on the half-hour until 10 to the hour".. Example: 3:30 p.m. - 3:50 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. - 5:50 p.m. . . . . . Drivers not in the correct time slot will be obligated to back up, and may be cited.
PETS; Dogs and other pets are not allowed in San Mateo County Parks.

October is absolutely the best time of year to ride in this area. It is definitely worth the trip. HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU THERE.......
