II. Lieut. Colonel J. L. Drake 33d Miss. Regt. is hereby promoted to Colonel of said Regt. to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Colonel D. W. Hurst, accepted to take effect the 5th day of January 1864.

Said J. L. Drake will take rank as Colonel from the 5th day of January 1864, and be respected and obeyed accordingly.
