Officially, you and your teammates work together, but for the most part, it is every beast for him/herself.
To eliminate a player in either of the two ways, you must have a duel. The duel will last for long enough for each of the two players to do five things. (meaning, each duel must be ten messages long, no longer, no shorter) If at the end of the duel somebeast has clearly gotten the better of you, you can either surrender and become his or her hostage, or you can challenge them. The challenge will be issued by the overseer, and it will be an open-ended question that you both must answer by way of emailing the overseer your response. The beast with the best answer wins. If the winner also won the duel, they are allowed to kill the loser, and the loser is not allowed to retaliate. If the winner lost the duel, both beasts go free. If the duel ends in a draw, the overseer will automatically issue a challenge. The winner of the challenge takes the other player hostage and is not allowed to harm him/her in any way for the rest of the game. Hostages are not allowed to break free and will not participate in the rest of the game.
When a beast is taken hostage, as mentioned above, they cannot participate in the rest of the game. If they attempt to break free, the beast who caught them is allowed to kill them immediately.
If a beast with a hostage is killed, the hostage is set free but will be immediately reported to the overseer and taken to a safe place to stay for the rest of the game.
If you die, you must stay dead in all clubs that you are in for at least two weeks, at which point you can try to persuade the overseer to let you live again. You may exist only as a ghost in the two week time period, and if the overseer refuses to resurrect you, then you are permenantely dead. Everywhere.
Hostages are like slaves. They can be made to do anything that the beast that took them hostage tells them to, as long as it doesn't break the rules. If a hostage is told to duel with a member of their former team in place of their master and they win, the other member cannot die, but becomes a hostage of the first hostage's master.
The game ends when an entire team has been eliminated. If a beast is made a hostage during the game, they must be slave to the one who captured them until they buy their freedom back. The way this is done is that the hostage offers to give up a certain number of their club points to their master. If the master agrees, the points are transferred to him or her and the hostage is free. The master is allowed to decline unless 50 points or more are offered, in which case they must accept.
