The Beginning of Gamma Phi Theta Honorary Fraternity, Inc.:

"In the beginning, there was nothing. Then the year 2000 rushes upon the world like a dragon, shocking all in its path. When the smoke clears and the clouds subdue, the Dragon is left standing wearing Black, Silver, and Royal Blue."

Gamma Phi Theta Honorary Fraternity, Inc. was conceived in the Spring Semester of 2000 by the Most Noble Lord Samuel McDuffey, the Most Noble Lord Tremayne Whitehead, and the Most Noble Lord Tyrone Lewis. During the Summer of 2000, the Most Noble Lord Tyrone Lewis researched and drew plans for the birth of Gamma Phi Theta Honorary Fraternity, Inc. During the Fall of 2000, on Tuesday, October 24, Lewis presented his ideas to six other people: the Most Noble Samuel McDuffey, the Most Noble Tremayne Whitehead, the Most Noble Symmeyon Morton, the Most Noble Kendrick Miles, the Most Noble Jimmy Miller, and the Most Noble Lynn Hunter (the only female founder). The seven people came together to be the founders of Gamma Phi Theta Honorary Fraternity, Inc. founded on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi.

In the Spring of 2001, the first intake process took place with fourteen candidates for membership of Gamma Phi Theta Honorary Fraternity, Inc. Out of the fourteen people, twelve were inducted and became official members on Thursday, February 8, 2001.

On February 7, 2001, Gamma Phi Theta Honorary Fraternity, Inc. was legally recognized as an organization within the state of Mississippi, with Bobby F. Fisher of Fisher Law Offices, Greenwood, Mississippi as the incorporator.
