ENTWINED
I lay motionless, listening to the sound of your gentle breathing
Taking comfort in the warmth of your body lying next to mine.
Outside the rain falls like tears from the Fields of Yaru.
The sad melody brings understanding.
Unnoticed, my own tears merge with those of the Divine.
Conjoined by soul's contract,
Divided by intemperate fate,
Coming together again and again through iron mortal will,
I know why Isis wept.
Shadows fall across the room,
I know in the morning you'll go.
The image of your sleeping face burns into my heart.
Reaching out I stroke your cheek.
Softly you stir.
Shifting, your strong arms encircle me, pulling me close.
Your lids flutter . . . open.
Your eyes meet mine and I lose myself in their murky depths.
Tenderly you brush your lips against mine.
I sigh resting my head near your beating heart.
Closing my eyes I breathe in the scent of you,
Knowing that for now it is enough.
